Mylotters I know this might be something that some will laugh about and others will take me serious.
I finally got my little Yorkie puppy. His name is Koli. He is now six months old and very spoiled.
When I got up this morning I found a tooth that looks like it was his back teeth. I was in total shock. Now my question to you is..Do puppies lose their baby teeth and get adult teeth in like we do?
Im not sure what to do, so any help, suggestions, information is very helpful. Thanks to everyone in advance.

Honor is correct but I am surprised he didn't eat them..My puppies are almost 7 months and I have yet found a tooth and knowing Ciara, (and possibly Penny, but more than likely Ciara), she'd eat them, she eats everything..lol

Well actually what happen was Koli got up Dad this morning and was digging at his jaw and then it fell out. Dad grapped it real quick before he had a chance. I say he would have done the same as your Ciara.

I am not sure whether dogs are like human beings and they lose their baby teeth. This is the first time I heard it. I had a dog before, but I had never seen he ever lost his teeth. Whereas my cats lost most of their teeth when they are old now.
I love China

Hi dawn
Good to hear from you. Like I said earlier I have had pups before but never seen this before. I guess they must have swallowed them or hid them on me. I know why Koli didn't do that. He wants the tooth fairy come tonight...LOL

Some of the others have said that it is a normal thing for puppies to lose their tooth to get in adult teeth like us. I might still need to contact his doctor and as for sure. Thanks for responding. Keep smiling.

Don't worry. Every puppy I've ever had, has had that happen. I remember commenting to my vet once on a small puppy tooth I had found of Sherlock's. She said it was unusual for pet owners to even notice the loss of their teeth because it usually isn't noticeable.

I know that I have had a couple of puppies in the past and have never seen this happen. I was a little concerned about it. I gave him a little more attention yesterday. OOPS...I forgot to leave it for the tooth fairy..

hi rosepedal oh yes like all animals puppies have baby teeth which
they lose and adult teeth that then grow in.So you need not worry
as this is supposed to happen. I haven't had a puppy in so long I
have forgotten dog care. But I would imagine they need to have dog
chewies to help the new teeth come in without hurting. I imagine
a lot of dog owners here can really help you out.

I am one of those strange people who take their cats out in the car and I recall a few years ago, getting into my vehicle and finding a little cat tooth on the front seat, I freaked out and went inside the house and checked my kitten’s teeth and I could see that there was a sign of a new tooth coming through so I felt relieved and figured that kittens and puppies lose their baby teeth like humans do. I’ve had my 12 year old dog since she was a puppy and I’ve had other kittens but I have never found a baby tooth anywhere, I wonder where they went, maybe they just got swallowed! I wouldn’t worry about your puppy, I’m sure he is fine and just going through a change in teeth just like my cat did!

Yeah Paula I would also think that they just get swallowed too. This was the first one that I experienced as well. He is extra special to us, so I think he wanted us to know what he was going thru. Then again I bet he wanted the tooth fairy to come for some special treats..I bet that was it....
Mom forgot to call the pupppy tooth fairy..Shame on me...

Congrats on Koli ! and yes, the lose their teeth. If you are concerned just call the nearest veterinarian. They are always happy to give advice.
And, no I do not laugh when an owner of an animal is concerned about their animal. I have two dogs and two cats and love them all differently.
And, are your going to neuter Koli? give him his shots? still call the vet and ask. It will give you peace of mind.
hugs, quita

I have already started his shots. He is done until he is 1 year old. As far as having him fixed Im not sure yet. Dad says that he needs a girlfriend and I say that he is my baby that a girl will take him away from me....HAHAHAHA
Thanks for the comment and have a great day.
