If you've converted to Christianity...

Why? Why did you suddenly see that God was the answer? I converted when my fiance came up for two weeks to see me. I was Neo-Pagan, and even though the Wiccan religion isn't supposed to be evil, it changed me. It got to my head. Later, I realized that the pentagram, no matter what way it's pointing, invites Satan into the household and into your life. Some private things went on to make me further realize that I needed God in my life to guide me and correct my broken soul - so I let Him in.
Now I feel so much better about myself. Reading in either First, Second or Third John, I read that any religion that does not support that Jesus died on the cross to save us all from eternal sin is a false religion, therefor the person following the false religion is in the hands of Satan. It all makes sense to me now.
I want to know how you, a converted Christian, came to realize that Christ is indeed there for us. How did you feel after you were saved? What is it you think God wants from us as His creations, and what was your life like before you came to know Him?

I guess because I grew up in a church I never doubted who Jesus was, but I have changed the way I worship and live my life over the years..But I won't go into that, for as a new Christian, it may only confuse you. So I suggest you keep reading and don't limit it to the New Testament, the Old one is just as important and keep learning..No matter how long you been exposed to the Bible, we are always learning new things this book has..And never feel any question is stupid, that is where the enemy can get in and deceive you..
As for how I felt after my first real experience with G♥d? It was a beginning of a journey that I am still on..A journey that has it's ups and downs, but knowing He is with me always is very comforting.
What do I think G♥d wants from us? Our love and to love one another.
Before I had a real experience with Him, I had a lot of problems with anger from a bad childhood. He has healed me in ways that only can be from Him and it is still ongoing, but I am like clay in His hands as He molds me into what I was suppose to be....

Thanks for the BR, bloo_equinox and for forgiving me for getting your gender wrong..
@edward.. That's wonderful that you have this kind of faith, not many do. And yes G♥d hears you and is concerned about what you are going through, the problem is, He has His ways and until we look back, we never know why we go through what we go through..So keep praying, and reading His word, because before you know it, you will see how He has not only worked in your life, but you will soon realize that His word has become alive as you meditate on it..I have memorized and read passages for years and suddenly when I read it again, it's like I am reading it for the first tiem and I understand it..
Though we will never know everything while here on this earth, it's cool when we do learn something new as we push in closer to Him..:)

I believe in jesus although i haven't has such an experience. I believe him just because i think there must be someone wiser than human to control all the thing. Bible seems perfect to answer all the questions. Sometimes i feel confused when i read the bible. Because i don't want to believe something without logical thinking. I don't want someone to make me believe especially it damages my freedom.
Sometimes i pray when i am in trouble, but i am not sure weather he listens or not. Maybe i do something wrong.
Bible tells me that we should love each other. That is really hard to me.
However, I still believe him.

Don't you think your discussion may be offensive for people believing in other religions out there?
I'm not racist and I respect every kind of religion, as long as it doesn't damage my individual freedom - it's always good to believe in something, it's good because religion, no matter what kind, brings people to behave good towards other people and nature.
I am Pagan, and I feel really offended by the fact you're saying the Pentacle invites Satan into the household. This is our sacred symbol, and as an ex-Neo-Pagan I think you shouldn't insult other religions like this. How would you feel if I said Crucifix brings only evilness to you? I won't ever say it, because I don't think it's like this. Every sacred symbol brings joy and peace, as long as you put your wishes in them.
If you found your way in Christianity I'm happy for you, but don't bash other religions just because of that.

I don't think he meant to offend, but to share what he has learned. And he wants to hear what other Christians have experienced when they turned their life over to G♥d..

I'm a girl. Lol.
And no. I'm not meaning it as a prejudice thing. Judge lest ye be judged.
I'm not bashing religions. I had a bad experience with a religion that isn't a true one (ACCORDING TO THE BIBLE) ... if you don't like the conversation, please stay out. Thanks! :D

I was a former Catholic and changed faith to Born Again Christian just last year. I am a firm believer of the bible and I do my best to follow the word of Jesus Christ. I am not perfect, I still commit sin every now and then, but one thing I learned from it, is to repent from your sins.
Peace and Love.

Hi bloo, I could ask you the same question worded differently - I am a Hindu and I can say that any religion that does not recognise Krishna or Ishwara as the saviour of this world and mankind is a satan...I think you need to be a little more mature and rationale in your thinking instead of getting carried away by your new religious inclinations LOL sometimes people suddenly get carried away by something new that has come into their life and they want to shout the world about it without knowing the full details ...Cool down and attract to think rationally and you will realise in time that All religions are man made and god has nothing to do with religion...

as a catholic, i think its good to be a believer of jesus because independent form being true or false is good to believe in something just for the simple reason of self confidence, and i think that as all cultures are different god should have its "version" to each one of them, and saying that all other religions that not believe in jesus are wrong, like being jew, budhist or islamist, i think they have their interpreaion of god, and as individuals, i think god have a different treat to each one of us.

I converted to atheism at the age of 9. Best decision ever. Now I get to spend Sundays hanging out and watching rubbish telly. I also have free will.
The point I'm trying to make, I suppose, is that God isn't 'the' answer. He is 'your' answer. Arguably, suggesting that religions other than Christianity are 'false' is going to offend people, and rightly so. It matters not that the Bible said so; the Bible is a text written by men, not gods, and it sanctions the idea that fathers can sell their daughters as slaves, and that anyone can be killed for working on the sabbath. It is, therefore, a flawed document which should be interpreted rather than taken literally.
Think about how offended you would be if I attempted to prove to you by rational means that the existence of a God is so unlikely as to be irrelevant. This is, effectively, what this post does to others. It forces your doctrine on them and condemns them because their views are not the same as yours.
Live and let live.

You didn't answer the question. :) Please read my discussion. "converted to Christianity." Atheism means to have no hope... so... don't plague my discussion with ignorance. Thanks! :D

I always love seeing another atheist/agnostic here. So many crazy religious folk on mylot, it is difficult to handle sometimes.
