Choosing the Right People/ Person

How did you choose your godparent/s or sponsors in Wedding? Do you know them personally? Are you or is it your spouse who has personally chosen them? Was it your parents or in- laws who have chosen them for you? How well do you know them and are you comfortable talking to them about something personal? Many of the couples I know have a lot of sponsor/s in wedding but they don't know the person too well. People even have this habit of getting politicians as their godparent/s or sponsors. However, for me and my husband what's important is that those people can be our second parents. We both believe that our wedding sponsors would be our second parents. That's why we have chosen them personally. We knew them too well and they are someone we can seek advise to when needed. For us that's the essence of having sponsors in wedding. They should not just be present during the occasion but they should be someone you can always rely on. They should also be people with integrity who can be good role models to us. How about you fellow Mylotters? What's your stand on it? I know some people who chooses their sponsors based on their wealth, social status and power.
