I am looking for a little advice please from those that are Helium members also. I currently have 9 articles, 7 of which are in competitive titles of 3 articles. My possitions of these keep changing, as I write this they are as follows;
2/3, 3/3, 3/3, 2/3, 3/3, 1/3, 3/3 = writing % 62.22
As you can see I have a 1/3 position so I know I am capable of doing this , just finding it a little frustrating. I have used leapfrog for 3 of these, changing positions for a day or two then dropping again, assumption is, the other article writers were none too pleased and leapfrogged also.
Do you have any advice for me please. Should I write a few more competitive articles or should I attempt a few leapfrogs again on the articles I have? I am in the belief that, writing to another competitive title may harm the percentage more and also create more work trying to gain that 1st star, as you can see, advice would be appreciated greatly xx

Another tip is to write articles that have more than one article, since your article will be rated against the other articles under the same title. Articles with only one title usually don't get rated because there's not more than one article in the title.
Leapfrog your articles. I sometimes leapfrog my articles, because I found spelling errors or I need to add new information. Leapfrog articles will be rated by other users and that will help your Helium rating go up.

Thank you for contributing to this discussion xx
I have started to write articles to titles that have a few more previously submitted and I am already seeing a small difference in my stats daily.
I had a minor set back to my writing star goal, today was meant to be the day. My little boy had a poorly belly yesterday which resulted with no work done. However, I did receive two emails from Helium yesterday, they pulled two of my articles. Though suprisingly I am ok with this. They were the first two I wrote, which after writing the others were always ones I wanted to come back to re-do and leapfrog. Moreover, with the removal of these articles my writing score went up today, woop woop, it is now 72.19%.
Do any of you promote your articles else where and if so where do you recommend? I am twittering them throughout the day and have also submitted them to Stumble, they are directing some traffic but would like to generate some more xx

Yes I do write my articles with more than 400. I think it was the standard of them honestly, the more articles I have wrote I knew those first two were not good. I meant to go back over them to re-do but didn't get round to it.
It is all a learning thing for me, I am not a writer so am really giving it a go to see if I am capable, plus earning a little extra also helps xx

Do you try to write more than 400 words? 400 words is the minimum length they require to publish on Helium. Perhaps your two articles were pulled because they weren't long enough.

I agree, try writing to titles that have a few more articles. Example, I have one that is ranked 3 but there are 21 articles so it boosts my percentage. Try and be patient for a couple days, I know it took at least a week or so for mine to get stop jumping around.

I did consider writing to a title with more articles previously submitted, I haven't got that much confidence in my writing ability just yet. Ranking 3 of 21 is fantastic, maybe I should have a go more so out of curiosity I think.

Just looking back again, my writing score is 62.22% I have the percentage in competitive titles which reflects my worries of not having a great ability to write the articles to the standard needed.

I thought I would give a little bit of an update. Today my writing score is at 69.31 %. I have been trying to put a little more of an effort in as I really want that first star. Helium do like to make it sound so much more easier than it is, but I can honestly say I am enjoying it so much. Waiting eagerly for that writing score to update daily is exciting, I submitted 2 more articles today, really hoping they budge me a little closer to that 75%. I am hoping a little more work tomorrow will be suffice to reach that goal for Tuesday. So with I have a plan and more work to do. Lol I hope you all don't see me a little strange, just enjoying the process at the minute. I'll update again tomorrow with a progress report. Hopefully someone else can learn a little more about helium as I go xx

I think you should. It is hard graft at first but once you start to understand a little more, it helps a great deal. I have my first star now, working for that second. I haven't submitted an article for a few days as my baby has been I'll - couldn't concentrate much. I figured though from my percentages that star 2 isn't far off.
Helium gets a lot of bad press from some, my theory is they don't like the thought of the work it takes. They prefer money to be thrown at them - well wouldn't we all? I like to know I have worked for what I earn. 10 articles won't earn you a lot, but it will bring revenue everyday. I shouldn't have to be as obvious as saying, the more you write...
So my advice - yes go and try again. There are a lot of people here as well as there, to help you should you need xxx

It takes about a week for ratings to settle out. Have your articles critiqued in the forums for a little more advice on improving them. Remember, new articles get placed in the middle of the pack. Leapfrog only jumps starts the rating process again. It will take time for your article to settle down. You also might try writing to titles that contain more than three articles. It will boost your percentages and you don't necessarily need to be in the top spot.

I did think maybe writing to more titles, doesn't the percentage rate drop to 10% after 17 articles? I don't know if I am starting to confuse myself reading so much into it. Though I would rather go in armed as they say with a little research first.

Hello, Tiggerific. I'd suggest you write to titles you know about with a lot of articles already there. For example, if there's a title about swimming, with 20 articles and you know a lot about the topic, writing to that will improve your score.
Writing to under 5 titles is pointless at the moment. You can't earn an upfront bonus, and it will damage your writing score. If you're 2 of 3, your writing score is around 66%, however, if you're 2 of 10, the score for that article is 90%.
Wait until you have at least one writing star before you write to titles with less than 5 articles. Don't bother leapfrogging. It's not worth it if there are only 3 titles in it, and it may not help your writing score anyway. Good luck.

Thank you ever so much Sandra, I did submit a couple yesterday and today to titles of more than 5. My writing score has budged a little so I am under the impression it is going to take a little bit of a graft. I am however very much enjoying it so far so don't mind at all. I would much rather work for my bread than be handed it as they say, good old fashioned work satisfaction. Thank you again for sharing a little of your knowledge with me xx Tigger xx

Hello,
I am thinking of joining Helium very soon, so I am enjoying reading about some of these strategies. I feel it is good to have as much information about different writing sites before you leap into them. There are a lot of them out there. Helium is one that interests me more than most of the others.
Thank you for starting this discussion. How long have you been writing on Helium?

Honestly, this is only my second week, writing and writing on the net. The first week I wrote and submitted a couple of articles, both to get off the starting block and to observe. Also I used this time to do a little more research into Helium, how it worked and other peoples advice and experiences.
Still this second week I am a little more knowledgable, but still have a great deal to learn. I don't expect nore want it to be easy, I like to feel I have worked for what I earn. Patience as they say is a virtue, I know as time goes on and I put in more work, it'll happen.

It takes time for ratings to settle and as it is user rated some people have found ways of fidling the system to help their own articles.
My advice is to write as many articles as you can and get and keep your rating stars up to 5 as this will give you a $3 bonus each month.
Always write to titles you know about as you will be more likely to get higer on the ratings.
