I want to buy a laptop or a netbook and I was wondering if the brand of a computer really matters. For example, is a $350 HP notebook any better than a $350 Dell or a $350 Gateway notebook? Should I even bother considering the brand? Thanks.

I do think it matters sometimes, some brands do work better than others but it all depends on what the customer wants their laptop to do for them. My Toshiba works great and I can do a lot with it so I'm very happy with what I have.

actually each other brands have some andvantages, like motherboard, case etc. but about a performance i think cost is really determining. in my opinion the most important thing is the performance guys, so try to look for lists of notebook list at the market.prices has to proportional with the performances. good luck and have a nice day

Brand name yes it also important but if you compare from Sonny, Acer, HP, MSI, Dell, and Lenovo all of them are great brand so better look at the specs of the laptop you are going to buy. If the price is same but the specs are much better compare to each other always choose the brand that gives the best specs with same price compare to other brand.

I think that both of the brands are very gud. But Dell differs from HP in a way that its battery back up is better than HP, its components are more durable than HP, and its less delicate than HP. So, i wud recommend Dell. thanks

Brand name is no where near as important as operating system, size of memory, speed of processor. Many computers are made with the same componets as the others, it just a matter of who puts it together.
