Really it was a good day I had in my office but in the evening all gone bad...Little bit upset... I started to my home from office and the climate was really cool...I always love to ride my bike in cool climate...The air was fresh....I happily started my bike..Me and my friend will go together..So I started and I just passed some 100 meters..A bridge will be there. My friend told to go under since it was traffic over the bridge..When we crossed the bridge there will be a signal..It was Green , so we moved on then immediately traffic police came and caught us asked to pay a fine for not wearing helmet... I really gone mad...Everyday I used to wear my helmet..But today to get some good feel of air I didn't wear it..Then he asked my license and asked me to pay a fine of 100 Rupees..(Indian currency)...My friend looked me and I looked back him..smile just coming from us because everyday I wear helmet..my friend knows it..but today we got caught....I'm upset not because of paying,I wear my helmet always but didn't wear today and got caught.... Have you experienced like this..? Always you do but you missed one day and it hurts..

I'm glad you usually wear your helmet. Think of it this way--if that policeman had not stopped you, you may have arrived somewhere in time for a car to hit you and damage your brain. Maybe this is God's way of protecting you and reminding you to make no exceptions when your health is at stake.

I got stopped several months back for not wearing my seat belt. It was the same as with you. I hadn't put my seatbelt on because I had had to get out of the car momentarily and just jumped back in and took off. Shame on us! Rules/laws are made for a reason and we need to abide by them. My fine was $76 (US Dollars).

Oh..! that is a big amount...If they are doing their job daily means it is ok.Just doing monthly once or twice is bad..I passes lots of times on that way, wearing helmet and others not wearing..they won't get caught...because they were just standing and not doing their duty..Doing one day is very bad

Hi Gany, How are you? I can understand the disappointment, as always doing the right thing and just for one day you decided to enjoy the cool breeze and caught for that. It is sad indeed. I know you are not worrying for losing 100 rupees but you are worrying the way you caught. Don’t worry and take it as a lesson in future.

Hiya gany, Most of us will know how you feel. We got fined for something that had just been "altered" and also a few others fell into the same trap. But not so the second time around. Cyclists here are being fined also now for not wearing a helmet. Just happened to be one of those Days.

Hiya gany, Is that because so many People there use a cycle or a bike as I call it? Well I would agree there you can´t stop everyone in the street if they are all on bikes. I sometimes call a motorbike a bike too. Either way they will get fined here without having a helmet on or other safety things like proper lights.

He was talking about the incident and we were also talking about the cops. and guess what we did a road crossing which is a crime in UAE and the cops caught us and we wer fined for not using the zebra crossing. it was 200dhirams. which is 2200 indian rupees and thats 6600 for three of us. we had a bad day...that waht i call the poer of attraction....whats in the mind happens...

6600 Rs....that is very very bad...Even for drunken driving I think it is 1000 Rs...How rude the police officer was...? Whether he got the correct amount or you paid extra...?

Yes, it happened to me too in a different way. I always carry correct change for the bus fare. As soon as I enter the bus, I buy the ticket and then relax either with friends or looking through the window, if no one is with me. That day my friend was with me and I had correct change in my hand. Since the conductor was on the other end of the bus, I was waiting for him to come to this end of the bus. But to my misfortune, ticket checker came and caught me for not buying ticket. My friend had pass so she escaped. I told him that conductor was on the other side and showed the change in my hand. My friend also supported me. But he refused to listen to, may be wanted few scape goats to show that he has done his duty well and fined me. I felt very bad, even now I feel hurt for that incident.

Oh...! that is very bad..A same incident happened when I travel but little bit different...Me and my friends got the ticket..we bought extra ticket by mistake. Then a lady entered, she didn't buy the ticket since the conductor was at another end..Then the checker came immediately...Then we gave that extra ticket to her and she escaped..We are happy that we helped that lady...otherwise they would have fined some 500 Rs..think so..

I am sorry that happened to you. I was thinking the last time I fell off my bike that maybe I should locate my helmet and give it another try, but honestly I just hate wearing a helmet and also, the only time I ever hit my head falling off the bike I was not even riding it. I had stopped riding and was just standing there talking to someone. But I never ride in traffic, not even with a helmet. Here, fortunately (in my opinion) the law does not required adults to have a helmet on when riding. If they make that law here I will sell my bike and not ride anymore, unless by then they have invented some new kind of helmet that is not so annoying.

The only time I got a ticket, I was really tired. I had had a bad night's sleep the night before, and I did something stupid right in front of a police officer. And I was a bit upset that he didn't accept my explanation and let me off with a warning. I hear stories all the time of people who have talked the police out of tickets, but not me.

Hi Gany~ I'm sorry that you got a ticket, but that is what always happens when you don't do something that you are supposed to do! It never fails that on the one day you decide to not do what you were supposed to do, like wearing the helmet you would get caught! Same thing happens here in the US! I guess you will be wearing the helmet for now on!

Quite the same thing happened to me before. I crossed the street even if the traffic light is already orange. I was not hit by vehicles but the traffic aid caught me. He asked me to pay a little amount of money. I paid it right away. I was s o ashamed because of what I had done. I would never do it anymore.

Oh my god..... Who is this at the Display picture.... Hope You did not stick the picture of this person in your vehicle. Had you done that police would have fined even 1000. It's sometimes unfortunate that people get caught for not wearing helmet and that too the police would leave others who are not wearing helmets especially ladies but catch us. This always happens. That is Indian Traffic police for you

Yeah. This usually happens to everyone in life. Pleasure never comes alone my friend, it bring with itself it's old friend sadness. It always happens after experiencing a pleasure you are punished with a sad thing. You didn't get caught before, because you were wearing helmet and obeying the law. So, there is no question to get caught by wearing helmet. And it also obvious when not wearing a helmet you got caught. You did a mistake and you get punished. But there is also a time when you make a mistake purposely and don't get punished. Happens to everybody.... this is life. I don't remember any particular incidence but this has happened many times with me also. Thanks.

Am sorry for your losing so much. In this life, the people we should be very careful about are the police. They give you the impression they don't make little mistakes themselves and besides, if you live in Africa like I do, then you should know that in some countries, policemen are very corrupt.

I would be even sadder if you got injured from an accident on the one day you did not wear a helmet. So sorry you had to pay a fine not just get a warning.

Isn't that great? it makes you feel human, prone to error. We cannot do anything about the fine, it is really prohibited to go on the road with your bike and not wearing any helmet, it is also for your own protection. Our government is strict also with regards to this. They really hailed those bikers not wearing helmets and they give them a very obvious ticket. Anyway, it's also an advantage to wear a helmet. We just need to exercise doing the right thing always so that we won't be called accounted for.
