Have you ever become aware that you were dreaming in your dream?

It's happened to me before, that i've been dreaming and all of a sudden realised for one reason or another that 'hey, this is a dream!' usually i test out if it's really a dream by magic-ing something in (just incase it's not really a dream and I go off doing things i wouldnt do in real life :P)
So, once i know i'm for certain in a dream-world i go off and do as I please until i wake up :) Also it works in nightmares too, the whole idea of pinching myself to wake up (and whilst i'm sure i dont actually pinch myself it somehow wakes my brain into reality)
anyone else had something similar to this? Or maybe something stranger? :)

Hi,
I have had something similar happen to me, though, for me usually when I realize that I'm dreaming, I somehow wake up, whether I want to or not. I hate when this happens when I'm having a dream I enjoy, but appreciate it when I'm having really bad dreams.

I have also experienced the similar state of mind. When I wake up suddenly in the midst of dreaming, I get conscious of the fact that I was only dreaming. I even remember the hazy picture of the events that flashed in my dream. During the period of dreaming, I feel all the dream-world as real till I get up and feel those scenes as unreal. In fact, the three normal states of mind-waking,dreaming and sleeping are mutually exclusive, as one can not experience these three states of mind simultaneously. We can not dream in the state of waking. Thanks.

This has happened to me once or twice. It was one of the weirdest feelings in the world. It's a funny experience. I don't know if I've ever been able to wake myself up, though.
