well i have seen smart students who cant do anything efficient when it comes to performing a physical test and such. this is why i believe that there are students that are great in paper and those that are great in practical. But it is always those students that are good in paper that gets the attention. what kind of a student are you?

I can say that i am good at both. I always secure good marks in my theory exam and also do my practicals well during lab session. But i like practicals more than theory as there is something new to learn from it.

I'm good with both, except that first one requires some efforts. in my school I was supposed to write as it was in text book to score full marks, so I developed this habit of mugging up. even after coming to college i couldn't come out of this habit. now slowly I'm coming out of it. practicals has never been a problem.

mugging up is the term we use here for roting up or by hearting the answers to reproduce it in exams, as it appears in study materials like text book/notes. it doesn involve understanding the concepts much.plain memorising and vomiting it in the exam paper.

as far as i can remember, I was good in practical examinations when I was in college. i get to get high marks in practical exams in most of my science subjects. I was one of the top in class when it comes to practical exams and I was bad in theoretical. I think the reason for that is there are so many things in the paper and pencil test that its confusing sometimes.

If I were to decide, I would design a curriculum more on application. Not all theories can be applied in reality, not unless you would become a scientist...I mean there are only few areas where we can really use theories...

yes your right, i am in a scientific field and the application stuff are used more than those in theory. but of course there is a place for theories and such.

When I'm a student I'm so boring. My class has 22 girls and 1 boy. There are 4-5 groups. People do not unite. I'm very quiet. So I dont have a lot of friends

Honestly, for me, it depends on the given subject and topic. I tend to do pretty decent in both though if I am able to sit down and focus my efforts on it to prepare for it. That is the problem with the education system though in that it typically only caters to one type of student and thus that type tends to excel where other types of learners may not do as well because their style of functioning isn't catered to as much.

I prefer to do things practically in life as i believe that one can gain more knowledge and will get first hand experience if things are done practically in life. Theory is good but practical is more useful in life if you ask me. I prefer real life situations so that i can gain very good experience.

Firstly you change your thinking because without struggle no one can achieve anything and remember that thing some one don't show in the class or any other places how intelligent they are they for asking when teacher ask me the question and when I give the answer so be aware and study and I am average student in my college life.

I think I am the student that is good in practice. I know what you mean when you say that the good ones in paper always get the attention when it should be the other way. After all you can learn better by practising than memorizing.

I am definitely best in theory, well most of the time at least. I would be just as good in practical too if I didn't get so nervous, but It's just one of those things that when someone is standing over me my head gets muddled and I try to do everything too fast. Though as much as I believe most students sway one way or another, I don't believe those that use excuses for constantly failing either theory/practical because ''i'm just no good at that type of exam'', at the end of the day no matter how nervous you get you will pass if you have the knowledge. I find it hard to understand these people that say they sit in an exam and forget everything, because I just wonder how, but then I think to how I feel in practical and for whatever reason they feel the same in an exam hall. But definitely that only goes so far, if you have the knowledge, you pass the exam (but maybe after a few tries first :p)

what i hate about practical sometimes is the time alloted to one. but you are right in the end if you have the knowledge you will do good.
