As A Consumer, Are You Comfortable Giving Negative Feedback?

I'm the type of person who has no problem voicing negative feedback when a product, service, restaurant or fast food meal fails to deliver and does not at least meet my expectation.
Now I don't believe in ranting, raving, fussing, cussing, being rude or nasty when I've experienced dissatisfaction. That type of approach will get you no where, and will probably have your blood pressure boiling! Lol, but seriously, that's not good.
I prefer the polite and courteous approach because it's far more rewarding ...
Businesses already want to be the best at what they do. Most businesses (if not all) recognize their room for improvement and are always open to constructive criticism. They are more than willing to do what is necessary (within reason) to satisfy a dissatisfied customer. Therefore, no need to scream and hollar at them when they've simply fell short. Businesses are run by humans so a fair share of mistakes can be expected from time to time.
Did you know that as a consumer it's your job to simply let businesses know how they are doing? You don't have to, nor should you wait to be asked for your opinion.
At every opportunity, I make it a point to do my part as a consumer. By doing so, I've received valuable coupons, free meals, discounts, and checks in the mail from numerous merchants just because I politely and courteously provided negative feedback. Using that handy-dandy customer service number that is provided on products, purchase receipts, etc. works for me! Those numbers are put there for good reason folks =)
What are your thoughts?

I do say something when Im not satisfied with a product or service. I had some problems with something I bought from Sears. I went on the site to write a negative review of the product and the bad service I received. Well, wouldnt you know that Sears deleted my comment. I cant even log into their sites anymore LOL.
So I lodged a formal complaint with our BBB.......there!!
We also have a site to rate doctors. I use it to let others know about a doctor, if Im satisfied or not and I also use the site to find out about other doctors when I need to.
More sites like this should be made available so we can all share our experiences.....good or bad.

edwardjoy2000, cher913, and leo2050 thank you all for your responses!
MagicBubbles,
Thanks for responding!
I give Sears a thumbs down for removing your negative review. When a business makes available a platform for customers to rate them, the business should be prepared to receive the good, bad, and ugly in terms of customer satisfaction reviews. For them to go as far as to disable you from their site was a bit extreme. You go on girl with your BBB complaint! Sears can't delete that. LOL
Hmmm ... the rate a doc site sounds like a great idea. Agreed that there should be more sites of such. Are you at liberty to share the site?

Yes, if I spend my money on a product and it is not satisfactory, than I will let them know. As you say I try to be polite, etc. I do expect them to send replacement coupons depending on the problem. Most companies with do that or will at least send some type of coupon even if it is not for a full replacement.

I have no problem at all telling people when the products or services they sell are not as good as I think they should be if the need arises. However, I work in customer service myself, so I will say that I am a little more tolerant than some other people would be. Somehow, I believe that working in customer service makes me a better customer when I do go out, because I have to put myself in the place of the people serving me...

We have to sometimes. when i was in college i used to feel odd to give bad comments. But then i realised that we are not giving them a chance to improve. No i give a comment either positive or negative. But enad of the day thats the truth.

Yes, because if the employees of that company or restaurant aren't doing their job, then they deserve to hear it. I have made complaints about bad service before, and I am glad I did because things don't change unless you say something.

I don't have a problem complaining about products at all. Infact I am always at the customer service desk at my supermarket returning goods that are not up to standard. I have returned bottles of water where the seals have been broken, milk, a swimming pool and more recently a packet of tortilla wraps that went green and moldy just 24 hours after buying them.

As a consumer I have no problem voicing out what I need to since it is the producer's/ manufacturer's duty to comply to our needs since catering their consumer's needs should be their top priority in order to stay on top of their game. Believe me or not, most companies love it when they get criticized because it gives them room for improvement and feedback from customers usually mean that the people are really looking in to their products.

Yes i can give negative comments freely without any hesitation. Being a consumer, its our responsibility to check completely a product and then buy it and not to buy it if we are unsatisfied. We have to make our own decisions while buying something not depend on others to give suggestions.

I agree with your opinion, because I'm not have any problem voicing negative feedback when a product, service or some kind like that not in accordancewith what is expected. But you know must company or businessman need a standart for their service or quality product, so I think it's ok when some people really care about that. It's true, what you said is that type of approach will probably make blood pressure boiling.. LOL
