Reading is my favorite hobby...is probably an understatement. Reading is my passion is more like it =) When I was little, I remember reading Bible stories with pictures on it and enjoyed it well. Then we I get a bit older, I started reading Nancy Drew, Sweet Valley High and Sweet Dreams. I was a voracious reader that at age 14, I was reading fiction novels already. I can remember reading The Silence of The Lambs and I was intrigued by it. Now, I can't count the books I've read. I so love reading that I prefer to stay at home with a company of a good book. I love the way it feels and the way it smells. I gravitate towards bookstores when I'm in a mall. I would easily pic buying a book over other stuff. reading requires a lot of patience and a wild imagination and I can say I have both. :) Currently, I'm reading "The Girl who played with fire" by Steig Larsson. This is the 2nd book after The Girl who played with fire.

Reading is also a passion of mine. I agree that it takes a wild imagination, but I really don't think it takes any patience. If you've been reading all your life like I have, then you find reading even the 900 page books pretty easy! I started reading substantially sized novels on my own when I was eight, and I haven't slowed down since! Recently I've been trying to count and keep track of all the books I read. I'm up to 64 books read this year and 509 in total (that I can remember!).

I've only been counting within the last two years. I counted all the books I could remember that I'd read before, and I have been counting everything I've read since. I actually prefer the really thick books sometimes. :D

I can relate. I love to read and yes it is my passion. I have read probably a thousand books. I have no idea how many I have read but I know it is a LOT. I am a bit book obsessed. I don't want a Kindle. I prefer an actual book. Reading is my escape. It is relaxing, and I can just get lost in a good book. I always want book store gift cards for christmas, by birthday etc.

I prefer the real book to an ebook that's why I haven't bought a Kindle. But if someone gives me a Kindle then I will welcome it :) Talking about obsession about books, you're not alone. Because of my obsession with books I always buy it over shoes or bags or clothes. So when I really need to buy say shoes I stir away from bookstores lol

well, i like reading too, but its just that i cant bear longer hours with my eyes fixated at the letters of the book. well, i love reading comic, horror and scifi books. these interest me a lot. my favorite author is dan brown, i just love to read his angels and demons, and the "da vinci code". i may not be a voracious reader as you, but mind you, i got a ribbon during my elementary as the best reader. hehehe. i just laugh receiving my ribbon but im proud of it. i just have a very clear and high toned voice for english and this is probably the reason. i also love playing games online and in my cellphone. i downloaded at least 20 games in my mobile just to entertain myself during boring hours.

I have many hobbies, but reading gets the first place of them all! :) Because it really makes me feel complete.
I started reading translations when I was 9 years old. From there, up to now I'm addicted to reading. I buy the books I like and I have a good collection at home.
Now I'm reading 'The lost symbol' by Dan Brown.

My favorite hobby is sleeping. haha... I've been writing this on the other discussions as well. When I'm asleep nothing is impossible. In my dreams, I can go to places I like, I can have the things I want, I can be what I want to be, I can do the things without anyone telling me what to do. But reading is one of my hobbies too.:D My favorite book is Talk Before You Sleep by Elizabeth Berg. But now, I'm more into reading mangas. But I still read books.:D

I love reading also since I was a kid but when I got my first job, I started to become lazy and do other stuff..Last year, I started to read again but unlike before, I can't finish reading one book in a day or two anymore but still, I love the feeling after reading.

Hi Juryse, i cannot survive a single day without reading too.
Even when I am in the public transportation, I read. I always carry a book in my bag, so that I can read whenever I am out.
Once I start reading, nothing seems to matter anymore. It is pure happiness to live in the world of fiction.

I love reading too..but my father never allow me to buy one book because he even think money can't be spent in book that can be read on the internet!
but i don't think so.
the more he dislike me buy the book, the more i like touch and smell it ...
so i start renting book in a bookstore.
what i read is the chefdoeuvre that can't be more popular than love story.so it cost me very little to have a heart exchange with great soul.it's a dime per day!

Reading is also one of my favorite hobbies. My other hobbies are traveling, shopping, trying out new restaurants, and watching movies. Reading always helps me relax and forget my problems and stress for a while. When I am on vacation or on weekends, I am already contented to lie down and read the whole day. It is okay for me to be at home and even alone as long as I have a good novel to read.

Am very sorry to say that i don't have any interest on reading ....... According to me reading something is wasting our time ...... i think it is better to see what we aught to read...... I always believe in seeing the things rather than reading something.......

Hey that's a very nice hobby. reading really helps you to grow. It is also a good stress buster. Even i developed this habit recently. It is so helpful for me. i am now improving in my vocabulary. My command on English is improving. Its a very good habit to read. reading helps you lots. However i read more self help books and motivational books. They boast me a lot and give me a lot of motivation. They help me plan and march towards my goal. They help me to lead a perfect life. So i always prefer reading self help books.

I love reading books. I started reading when I was still in grade school. I started with Reader's Digest, Hardy Boys, & Nancy Drew. When I made it to High School, I added Barbara Cartland, Mills & Boon, and other nice novels to my collection- as long as I could afford to buy them from my allowance. When I reached college, I read more and more books- from fiction to non-fiction....But recently, my eyesight became poor, which lead me to wearing glasses. I could finish a real page-turner novel in less than 2 days during my younger days but I now have to limit my reading time to just a few hours or I'd suffer from annoying head pains later on.
