What do you think about the government controlling health care?

I have been watching the news for some time now and the entire case for health care is getting worse and worse. It's one thing to know that people need health insurance, it's a completely different thing altogether to force people to purchase health insurance. There are people who can't afford to buy it and if we are required to get it and can't pay then we are punished. Personally, I don't appreciate being forced to accomidate a government who has skirted past this issue and not cleaned up the health care mess. Get the health care budget straight and then talk to people about our options for health care, that seems fair to me. How has this issue affected you guys? Do you have any thoughts or feelings concerning the health care issue(s)?

First of all, depending on your income, your insurance will be provided to you for free or at a low cost. The goal of this program is not to break people but to help the millions of Americans who have no health coverage. People die every day of treatable illnesses. While I do agree that the system needs to be cleaned up, the situation for too many people is too dire to wait.
To answer your question, I have healthcare coverage so this won't effect me very much but I also have a 19 year old granddaughter who has type 1 diabetes and no health coverage anymore. She works two part time jobs because she can't find a full time job and goes to college. Right now she is in the hospital...moved to a regular room today after being in the ICU for two days. Her case is difficult and she has other health problems related to her diabetes. I have other family members who are sick...one a cancer survivor...who can't afford to see the doctor like they're supposed to or to pay for the medications they need. There are too many decent, hard working people who need help in this area and it can't continue to be ignored.

I hope your granddaughter recovers and gets out of the hospital soon. I'm not saying ignore the problem but there must be a better way.
