Has anybody noticed that you don't see women wearing dresses very much anymore. I am not talking about mini-skirts or those little skin tight, one piece things they call a dress. I mean a real dress! I see some ladies wearing them because of their occupation, to church, or formal gathering. It is pretty rare to see a woman out wearing a dress doing any normal activity. I see mostly jeans, pants or shorts, or something resembling an apron. Perhaps you do not care one way or the other, I'd just like to ask the ladies why is this?

Simple, because roles of women also have changed. Women's role right now are more flexible and so they need clothing that are more appropriate. Pants or slacks gives more flexibility and gives women the freedom of movement without ever wondering if any of their privates are showing. Women in the 50s most especially (or even before) are used to wearing dresses which are more fitting to their social functions. now women are not just required to be pretty and smile or serve or just stand by their husbands. Women nowadays are required to do different stuff that requires clothing that will cater to those needs. It is the same reason why you mostly see dresses during formal occasion, it's because women would rarely bend or reach or do heavy stuff, instead they just have to act prim and proper.

Agreed. I believe if women nowadays only had to go shopping and join tea parties instead of working, we will be able to see more dresses on women. After all, dresses are pretty and women like to be pretty, especially in a crowd.

Actually, I've noticed the contrary. I notice that more and more women are wearing dresses nowadays, even when they're just strolling around the malls or doing groceries and stuff. I even get jealous of them coz I've always wanted to wear dresses coz they're so comfortable and practical but for some reason I just can't seem to find the perfect dress :) But I must say that there are still a lot more women wearing pants or shorts compared to women wearing dresses. I guess it just depends on the person's preference and also, her job. Some jobs require women to wear pants. Also, some women might also think that they can't pull off a dress or something like that. Some are just more comfortable with pants too :)

Yeah I feel that, and sometimes I miss to see women wearing dresses like my mom always do. May be the women now just want practically in wearing fashion, so they dont want something like dress anymore. Or I don't really know, I just enjoy to see they are wearing mini skirt or sexy jeans or some like those little skin tight...

Not here in the country where I live. A lot of conservative women still dress that way. And yes, they wear conservative dresses. Especially when going to their place of worship. There's this religion here that doesn't allow girls to worship in jeans or anything other than a conservative, simple, modest dress. I usually wear a comfy, casual dress when I got nothing else to wear (like on laundry days). LoL.

Personally, as much as I want to wear dresses often, I find it a little impossible. It's really kinda inconvenient to commute to work or to anywhere I'll go, since I don't drive, wearing a dress. But with jeans, it's all right, and I don't have to worry about running after a taxi or getting in a jam packed bus or train.

Obviously you've never spent a day in a dress! They can be terribly uncomfortable. Plus you have to be so much more careful about the way you sit, how you get up and all that. With slacks you can just be a little more relaxed that's all!

Where I live, a lot of women wear dresses, because they are in fashion right now, and because they are easy to slip over a bikini (I live in a very hot country with excellent beaches). So maybe it depends on where you live?
I personally wear dresses at least every other day!

In my opinion, the reason why this is happening is because of global warming...lol, not really. I think this is because wearing a dress is uncomfortable in general, you need to keep in mind the way you sit, stand and etc. When the wind blows then it's already trouble. Wearing jeans prevents that. Another thing is the shoes, wearing sneakers in a dress is not a good fashion decision,

As a woman, we still wear dresses but in occasions only. Maybe because of the new style and fashion now a days. It still depends on what you do. You don't need to wear a dress like you're attending a party when you'll just go to the market or grocery.

I think it's mainly because these days a dress is something that's considered to be only formal and not something you wear every day. It depends on the woman though, if they want to wear a dress they will, if they want to wear tight jeans and a hoodie they will.
