Have you try to read something new?

I try to read something new different from the book selections I prefer and love, but I ended up bored and did not finish even one of those books, it really bores me, not that the writer is a boring one but really is not where my blood boils and fills me excitement even if it is a war story or what, but when it is fantasy and love story I can read it and finish it in just a snap, and it really added color to my world.
Have you try to finish the book that wasn't your type of mood to read?

I usually try to finish a book, even if I am not very into it. In grade 5 I stopped reading a book because it was so bad, that is the last time I can remember not finishing a book because of the content. I usualy read the same type of book and would be interested in something new to try out, I wish I had more time to read. But with school and work it's not always easy. Stephen King is my favourite author. I used to like VC Andrews until I realized every book is the same plot over and over and over again.

I am the same as you. I always finish every book I start. I think it's probably because I keep track of the books I read and I can't chart a book I didn't finish.
I found that Phyllis A. Whitney books all have the same storyline so I stopped reading them.

From time to time we all have the inspiration to go and try something new that defers from the usual staff. I like reading about extraordinary things in life; and this is quite a large group. I have just finished reading the book of an animal communicator gifted with psychic ability who can talk to animals from cats and dogs to horses and swans. It was very interesting. The next book I want to buy will be about a "plant communicator's" findings who can feel and sense the plants energy and healing force. It took me long, however, to find my own taste for books and first I bought books which were about different topics, had different style from that I expected. Or I just did not like the story.
When I am not in the mood to read a book, I put it aside and try it later on. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Sometimes only the first 20-30 pages are boring and in the end it turns out to be an exciting book. Sometimes a story makes me bored or annoyed and I never finish reading it. I soon forget about such unfinished books. They were not meant for me.

Most of the time I tend to focus horror or suspense, because I really like that kinds of books and I usually enjoy the books that I read. Sometimes I like to try something different for instanse historial novels or science fiction. I liked some of the historical novels that I read. I think it is a nice way to learn something while I am reading a story that I enjoy. I didn't like the science fiction novels that much, but maybe I didn't pick the right novels. I haven't read a science fiction novel for a very long time, maybe I should try again

I'm a big fan of high fantasy, and there are few books outside of that genre that really keep my interest. I've read and liked loads of other books, yeah... but I've always come back to high fantasy. I just can't seem to stay out of the genre for very long. I find books based in reality pretty boring and uncreative. I like a story that wraps me up in a whole new world full of myth and legend!

I have authors that I like and always read their work. I tend to stick to these authors. However, there has been the odd occasion when I have read something I normally wouldn't read (one book I picked up through bookcrossing.com; the person that left it insisted I read it; the other was a book I won online) and I actually enjoyed the books. I was surprised because they weren't even in the genre I normally read. I'm not much into sci-fi/fantasy and I won't actively search for books in those categories, but if I can get into the book then I will keep reading.

Yes, and I'm embarrassed to admit it.. See, I have written this story and had told a friend that so far I have seen no book that has the beliefs my character does. My friend said yes there is and mentioned this well-known author and so I checked into him.
I read one book, and it took some on my part to keep reading. Not that it wasn't good, but I like to read and write stories that are an easy read..For example a book you can read while on a mini vacation. This author's book was a harder book to read, plus it was historical, where as mine is modern.
Then I thought I'd find another book to read and this one, I barely made it through the first 2-3 chapters and gave up...
So far I guess I am right, there is no story close to what I wrote, but I would never tell an agent this, let them figure it out if they want..My story is different, yet I feel it will entertain both Jew/Gentile and even non-believers.
Not that I wouldn't try something different, because there just might be another genre that interests me. I am reading one now that is similar to the popular Christian book, "Pilgrims Progress"..This one is called "Hinds' Feet On High Places" And I am enjoying it..:)

i tried reading more serious novels. one time i read the da vinci code. it took me like over a month to finish it. i don't really like reading serious stuff. so i never read another serious novel. i like young adult novels even though i;m not really a young adult anymore. it's kinda funny because yesterday, i bought a book. my uncle commented on how i like to read. i said yeah, but i only read books that are meant for younger readers. he said, even so, it's still reading.

I'm typically a mystery fan buff and I have authors that I love to read but quite honestly some of the most exciting reads that I have had have been authors that I've stumbled across because I couldn't find anything else that interested me at the time. I found Luanne Rice that way and she writes relationship novels. After I read "Beach Girls," I was hooked on Rice. I picked up a book at Goodwill by Tess Gerritson. She writes mystery novels and her style is so fascinating that I read the book in a couple of days. "Rizzoli & Isles", a television series debuting 7/12, is based on the characters in her books.

Boring is number one enemy for the writer, sometimes we stuck and feel like nothing will be written or the idea has gone away. Even though when we are writing, sometimes we can feel bored when we are reading... so, to raise the mood is very difficult. I guess you just relax and don't too hard to try raising your mood, let it flow...
