Today I have some studying to do but I just can't be bothered thinking. It's now 10.30am and I haven't done anything! I know I will have to start eventually but I always leave it to the last minute and then stress about not doing it on time. I know we all procrastinate but there must be a way to beat it! Any ideas?

Hi coffeeshot! I am the "Queen of Procrastination" so I am going
to be straight and firm with you! Just do it! If you don't just
get up and do it you will end up like me and Lord knows you don't
want to take my crown away from me, although I wish someone would
already! I have spent all of my life procrastinating and have
ended up with nothing! Please do it for me! Please ignore the
temptation to put stuff off because it is a very bad thing! And
then it will take over and you will be waiting to put pictures
back up in your apartment that you took down 2 summers ago
when your apartment got painted!lol Just study!

Procrastination is the result of being forced to do something you don't feel like doing.
You either motivate yourself to do it, by telling yourself that it has to be done, and the sooner it is done, the sooner you can relax and enjoy yourself.
If you are a morning person, you perhaps think better in the morning.
If you are a night person, you probably better off doing it at night.
I get all my best ideas around Midnight. lol

As a therapist, this I have found has been the biggest problem with clients who come to consult with me. They want to change their lives, feel more fulfilled and happier, but they don't commit themselves to do what it takes.
My job then is to support them becoming a more committed person. That is.. if they say they are going to do something, then they need to do it, regardless of what they feel like. The make me a commitment. More importantly, they make themselves a commitment. If they procrastinate and break that promise, then I can make them a promise, that is that their lives are going to at best, stay the same.
This statement is usually more than enough to get them to stop procrastinating, because they really don't want things to stay the same or they wouldn't have come to consult with me. From that point on, together we arrange where commitment is needed in their life, and they go and do it. I will then see them a week/fortnight later, and the majority of them have not procrastinated and things are looking a lot different. If they are not ready for this, then they will not come back again. But one day, they will do something because at least their first session with me has opened their eyes to the value of commitment.
To beat procrastination, ask yourself what you really need to do...
Make an agreement (commitment) with yourself (or a relative/friend) that you will indeed do that thing even if you later change your mind.. Do it anyway.
Be specific, name the day and time that you will do it.
Above all keep your promises (commitments), for if you don't you will continue to procrastinate. Procrastination can be very seductive and attractive, but later it only ever leads to disappointment.
Hope this helps in some way. _Derek

Hello friend, i wanna share this to you: "The billionaire man" Donald Trump said that : It's that feeling of confidence that can banish negativity and procrastination and get you going the right way.
If you dont do anything then you spend your time. Remember that time is money...
Only two things in the world you spend and never go back to you:
MONEY and TIME! And TIME = MONEY...
So you spend time, you spend money too..
If i become you, i wanna write down what pops out... make like bullet form.
Then put how long you will finish that, what time you will start and end up in what time. Next, do it and check if you finish it.
Finish it...!
Actually only two habits present in human life: DOING and NOT DOING.
So, if you start and not finish, it just like you are NOT DOING AT ALL.
Why? because you dont finish at all...
Do you think you can hear the music of Rihanna if the song is not yet finish? How can they will produce the album if its not finish?
So it become totally NOTHING...NO ALBUM AT ALL...
The one thing that limit you to finish your task... is YOUR MINDSET.
Put always in your mind, what will you see as your final result and achieve it.
Dont concentrate on the problem that getting along...
Just be focus on one thing... RESULT!
I cant change you... the way to beat it = comes TOTALLY from you.
Will you win over the procrastination?
Will it stop you to achieve your goal?
Which one is successful? Edison that think and complete the first light bulb or Edison that keep thinking and doing procrastinating?

I spend two hours a day, six days a week, at a coffee shop. That's my study time. I go the same time every day, and use the time to relax, aswell as study. The coffee and the change of scene are my reward for putting the time aside. My average grade is 97%, so my method must be a good one. ;)

My advice is to just do it. Count to three and then get up and into it. I know the feeling. It can be hard to motivate ourselves at times, but we must start. I find that once I get into something that I keep putting off, I can keep motivated.

I used to procrastinate with homework assignments in school. It taakes too much joy out of a situation or project when you are rushed because you took too long to do it. I try my best not to procrastinate. Time is better spend on other things in life. Instead of procrastinating, i try to accomplish my tasks right away/

I agree with what Nike says "Just do it!". I tend to procrastinate too and I know exactly what that means. If I put away things I should have done today but refused to instead I'll find it hard to do them the next time around. And that's exactly what I normally tell myself to "Just do it!"

Well, actually, i think procrastination is good sometimes, especially when shopping. Girls like shopping. That's for sure. But they usually buy some useless things. But if you want to buy someting, just leave it and till the next day or longer, you feel that you have to buy it then go. It works for me because after a day i don't want to buy it most of the time and it saves me a lot of money and i think it's good.
