Can Friendster catch up with Facebook?

Hmmm.. I don't know really because some people are still checking their Friendster account. I did checked mine last week but there wasn't much. Though I missed answering some surveys thru bulletins but I don't know if Friendster can still catch up with Facebook. Friendster installed some games too but I have no interest in checking them out. How about you, guys? What's your opinion? And do you still check your Friendster account? Cheers! Happy weekend to all.

well i think not. they are too slow to change and this is one of their downfall. But there are rumors that friendster are giving money to developers to switch sides.

As far as I know, friendster changed their layouts and applications but they cannot catch up what facebook made to everyone.

if they will keep on following tracks of Facebook and Myspace and will not create something that is innovative and not yet incorporated in those two leaders of social networking the answer is NO. Friendster lacks innovation and just always a step or two behinds its counterpart. Maybe friendster can borrow some ideas on mylot like paid discussions..haha maybe it will work..

I completely agree. Friendster is just following what Facebook has started.

That really depends on the people behind friendster how they would catch up with facebook but right now facebook is obviously way ahead

I've never been on Friendstar, I think its a cheap version of Facebook so I don't believe it will go anywhere. Facebook for all its glory does have some privacy issues but for the most part its a great way to communicate with people you haven't seen in forever. E-mail was good but you can have any name you want, Facebook is the actual person so you know who you are connecting with.

As of now, estimated Facebook user around the world is more than 350 million while friendster only got less than 100 million user. Aside from that Facebook dominates the whole web as the most browsed website in 2010. Way too far for Friendster...

Hi friend. Foremost and to be honest, I never had any interest in creating an account with either Friendster or Facebook. No offense meant okay. But I do know a lot of people who have accounts with them. They even urged me to create mine so we could check on one another's gigs or schedules. I am aware that Friendster used to be so hot before Facebook came into view. But I must admit that Facebook seems more interesting, as I have observed the users got so addicted especially to Farmville... that they would even sacrifice a few bucks in internet cafes just to be able to "harvest" their plants. But just recently, I heard from a Farmville addict that they are planning to launch another site which will topple over Farmville. I'm really not sure if organizers of Friendster are behind this scheme or if another party is interested in a considerable share of internet traffic. Anyway, at the rate FS and FB are going, I don't think FS will be able to catch up with FB for now. God bless and regards.

Hmmm.. it's good that you have started this discussion. It reminds me of my rusty Friendster account, I have been wanting to get to it and access for the longest time ever.. but each time, I'll push the thought away for a moment, thinking that I'd come back to it. But forgetting to each time.. I'm not being fair to Friendster.. I mean, I log on to Facebook a few times a day, and Friendster is being neglected, LOL.. I should remember it too. Guilty as charged regarding Friendster logging..

Initially before Friendster, Everyone's Connected(EC) was popular for us in Singapore. Friendster took a long time to load, whilst EC was fast and gives a higher level of interaction among users compared to Friendster. When EC started charging for membership fees and reduced usability for non-paying members, most jumped on board to Friendster. Page loading time significantly improved for Friendster, but for a couple years Friendster stagnated. New technologies appeared in the market but there was a lack of innovation and little improvement made to Friendster. When Facebook came about it took the world by storm. It introduced users to a whole new level of user interactivity and the rest is history. Friendster has lost its relevance and significant market share. If one ask Friendster can catch up with Facebook, I guess not a chance at all. Majority of people will too be busy on Facebook to even care about improvements on Friendster in my opinion.

He's into facebook - He is in his facebook.
Facebook has a large following already and friendster has to work hard to get into its level. I noticed that friendster has also imitated the facebook status and games too.

No, not unless they have a fresh new idea to reach the media masses... I left mine in the dust.

I don't think they could catch up even they remodel friendster. They must accept the fact that their time has come to an end. Facebook is much much better and I don't think there are people still using friendster. I used to have a friendster account but I think friendster has already closed it since I'm not visiting it for maybe 2 years.

i'd only checked my friendster accounts once in a while.i would rather browse and update my status in facebook than in friendster as most of my friends are in facebook right now than in frienster.they have changed the site interface but the facebook aura is stronger than friendster.still thinking whether or not to close the friendster account as im not interested to it anymore.

I don't think it would. even me, I don't open my account in friendster anymore. I guess because I'm bored in that social networking site.

I don't wanna close my head and heart on anything. I used to say I would never go to FB since I was so contented with FS. But then, things changed and embarrassing as it is, I admit that I ate my words. So if going back to FS is going to be a good change, then, why not, coconut?

I guess that if facebook would be compared to friendster. then it wouldn't be a good match up since friendster is definitely going to be obsolete soon. I've been using both of them but it seems that friendster serves to be for a gaming site purpose only and not like a social site like facebook because there were only few people who are active in friendster unlike in facebook. Guess what, recently, I saw an article in my coolbuster account which says that friendster will merge with facebook and I really don't think that it was advantageous for facebook but it would definitely be advantageos for friendster. Anyway, I guess it's not a good idea. The only thing that facebook must upgrade or improve were their privacy for all the members activities.

I'm not checking my friendster account anymore since I made facebook account. Friendster do have games too but facebook have it first, so it's like friendster's trying hard to catch up with facebook. But still, thanks to friendster. :)
