For those whose blood pressures are above the normal limit, maybe you can help me on this.
I am on self-imposed strict diet modification these days and in the coming days.
What food can I eat so my blood pressure won't rise again to 140/100?

Watch with the seafood because shellfish are high in sodium. Seafood is great for you but as with all of the foods that you ear, you have to watch the sodium content. My husband has high blood pressure and one of the foods that the doctor recommended was celery. It supposedly has a marked effect on blood pressure. I try to incoporate 9-11 fruits and veggies into our meals and we exercise every single day.

Every day, you should have a minimum of 9 servings of fruits and vegetables and work your way up until you have 11 servings per day. Best of luck to you. P.S. Make sure that one of them is celery. You should notice a difference in your blood pressure readings about 30-60 minutes after eating a couple of stalks of celery.

i try to eat healthy foods also. i often read things online on what foods are good to eat. not that i don't know what is good. but sometimes it is good to read it often so that i get motivated again to start again those healthy foods. and you get more appreciation of eating healthy foods when you get more detailed information of the benefits and what are the things in that food that makes it health. what are the vitamins and other components of that fruits and how healthy we can be and what are the diseases we can prevent if we consume it in the right amount.

Hi doris! High blood pressure runs in our family, fortunately I don't have it but I know I can easily have it if I don't watch my diet. For years now I've been eating oatmeal every morning. It's very high in fiber and helps clean and flush out bad cholesterol from our body. Fruits and veggies are already a given :) You can also eat "sikwa" (I don't really know what it's called in English) but it's the veggie that is used to make loofah. Mix it with vegetable soup/stew. They say that it's very effective in lowering down the blood pressure. Avoid eating seafoods especially crabs -- very very dangerous for people with high blood pressure! Garlic is also famous for lowering blood pressure.
Another thing, you must also remember that combating high blood pressure doesn't only stop in eating the right kinds of food. You should also maintain a healthy lifestyle like exercising regularly and most of all, maintaining a healthy and peaceful mind and disposition. Stay away from things, people, or events that give off negative energies. Think positively always and avoid stress and emotions such as anger, sadness and anxiety which can trigger high blood pressure and other illness.
I wish you success in your fight against high blood pressure :)

Fruit and vegetables are very good for people who are trying to reduce their blood pressure there are certain fruits and vegetables that are better than others - they are apricot, apple, banana, passion fruit, strawberries, orange and kiwi in fruits and spinach, broccoli, tomato, potato and carrot in vegetables.
Try to cut your salt content and eat plenty of pulses, non salted fishes and lean meats

Are you sure that seafoods are good for hypertensives? I mean the seafoods like seashells or crabs?

Primarily, you have to avoid salt and oil. They help increase blood pressure. I am sure you have medications to lower it down.
But to regulate your blood pressure to keep it from going high, try taking malunggay capsules (moringa olifeira). It helps to regulate not only blood pressure, but, your blood sugar, too. It has also been proven to be anti-oxidant and anti-aging.
Check the Phil Daily Inquirer the day before yesterday for a column about Malunggay capsules to find out more.
