I dont mean to make fun of the mail (if it is real) i have received few days back which ended up unnoticed until last hour.
Seems one small baby is suffering from brain cancer...as their parents couldn't afford the medication costs...they have tied up with AOL in such a way that they would earn 5 cents for every mail which would be forwarded
i never heard of such things before---if AOL is so generous then why cant they bear or donate the money needed to save that infant than to place such a stupid rule --- asking the parents to forward the mail?
you ever heard of such thing and would you forward such mails to your friends ?
As i'm not so sure if its a real or a scam one---i would prefer to avoid it than to forward it to my friends.Atleast a couple of mails end up in my inbox every month and i just overlook them.

I received many such mails which revolve around some bad accidents or moving incidents where small kids suffering from some freaking diseases or impairments which would drive those generous ones lending their help to them with no second thoughts.
these scammers whould be punished for fooling around innocent ones to make money in wrong ways.
sagar got a big list of those hoax mails in the link he provided bro

its a scam.. its like that one that used to go around where you forward it and you get a new computer lol.. they have no way of tracking it so how would aol know how much to give? if it does have a way to track you then that means it has spyware or a virus which isnt good either!

it's a scam. it's one that's been doing the rounds in one form or another for years.
and you're right, that would be a better way to do something good straight up without stupid conditions.
most importantly though.
it's THIS and THE.
Dis and Da makes you sound like a pathetic teenager pretending to be a rapper or something equally ridiculous.

I ignore such emails because there are enough needy people in my own community whose circumstances are known to all and therefore there is no worry about whether they are a hoax or not. If it sounds like a scam it probably is. So like you I would not send such a thing to others.

people in western countries have good means to cover all these kinda health issues in the name of insurance and all.so i see no point in seeking help by forwarding mails

hi sunny,
i haven't come across these kinds of mails, but what i just saw are just mails asking to forward the message for a cause and not really to raise money.
here in my place, i think there's also things like this, but its through text messaging and i remember myself sending a message. well i send a message back then coz i believe that its not a scam since i saw it in one program that i am always watching on tv, they feature a life story of this one child who suffers from certain disease and they said that if we want to help, just text to this number with their formatted message, and so i do. i'm happy to help even in such a small way and i am even happier when they show on the program that they have raise this amount through that text messaging and the child is doing better now...
with what you got there, well im not really sure but if its a scam, its too sad that there are people using the misfortune of others for their own sake.

There can be some real incidents---and i have seen some asking for help in the news channels and its good to know the money we donate would be utilized for a good cause than to be used by a scammer.
people who create these mails make sure that they pick real time incidents so nobody doubts it being a damn trick to get hold of the addies may be.

I think it's a scam. And it's an old one. I've received many emails such as this before. Too many times that I can't even count. I disregard them. But at first, I did make an effort forwarding them to everyone I know because I said to myself, I'm not gonna lose anything anyway whether I forward this or not. And in case it's true, at least I've done my part and I can say to myself I've done a good thing.

The same goes though every mind---we have nothing to loose if we can forward those mails little did we know they're more into collecting our friends emails than anything else.it would be wise to avoid them than to encourage such mails

I totally understand what you are saying...why wouldn't aol just help the child themselves? I really think these type of forwarding chain letters are super annoying. I ignore these types of letters as well because they are scams and/or fake and people do not have nothing better to do. It is very sad.

People can make money out of all the silly things we involve in our daily activities. Is it that they're quiet clever or we're dumb to have invite them with open hands.

The blond got it right!!! That's the news!!!
No big company has that kind of system. :) Remember Nigerians with lotteries from Microsoft? They are getting your email address, and there are ample software programs now to get your password from that. All your paypal and stuff would be in that email, easy to pull information.
Of course, if you are a sucker - what can I say!!!

There are reasons why AOL does this when they could afford to pay for the medication fully. By requesting the baby's parents to send out the email and requesting it to be forwarded it goes to show that the baby's parents are genuinely interested to seek medication, have equally undertaken responsibility and own that as well. It's a good thing that society is involved as well as the email passes hands. A developed society may also be seen not only on their material accomplishment but also on how well they take care of each other.
I've had emails like this before with every fact pointing them to be genuine. And I have happily participated in by forwarding the email.

you got something new here man.can you prove me that AOL does encourage these kinda things.if it were true then AOL would be bankrupt in the coming months coz there are many who are loosing their loved ones to severe curable diseases due to lack of money.if they want are so generous then what stops them from starting a charity to help the poor ones and there would be people contributing for the good cause as well.On the whole i dont believe such mails may be you should provide me with the facts you were talking about in the response
