we live in a nation where, pizza reaches home faster than police and ambulance, where u get car lone at 5% interest but educational loan at 12 %, where rice is rs.40 but they provide free sim card, where a millionaire can buy a cricket team instead of donating that money to charity, where everybody wants to be famous but dont follow the path to be famous, where people standing at a tea stall reading an article about child labor from a newspaper says at least the people who make children work must be hanged and then they say chote (kiddo) get two tea incredible india i dunno what to say some times india great or not

Don't get bitter my friend. It is not only India that suffers like this,or having problem like what you have wrote. I understand what you feel,it is normal. We cannot blame the country, but,we can ask ourselves what have we done to make our country a better place to live in. People can keep complaining, but, they never knew that, there is also something to be changed on their self,to make their place a better one. One must take the lead,so others will follow.

@ frozen, That's a good question my friend. Civilians/citizen can take the lead, wouldn't it be a good slap on politicians face?

"Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country"- John F. Kennedy I hope people all over the world understands and practice that quote because it's simply the answer to all our problems, specially for us in the third world countries. I think we can find more corrupt people in third world countries than in the first world countries. There are also people who are very dependent to its government that they think even if they do nothing and they have good leaders they will live a fruitful and peaceful life. Little do they know that they are one of the most important factor for a country to be recognized as progressing. It's not on India alone that this things happen. So I say lets start doing good things in our own little way in order for us not to contribute to the problems of our society

Hi frozenphoenix, i think you are aware of only a little about the people... you have to know much more about Indian people. You are seeing only the negative one, why can't you see the positive one also. Denying people are very easy than analyzing. Dear friend, i am concerned about what I have done but not that what others have done. There are all kinds of people are existing in this world, only the names are different by the places.

We have a by born mentality to wait for someone who will bring a change and we will follow. But we never try to bring the change of our own. Our main problem is we think a lot but do very few. Things are very similar here in Bangladesh. When a problem arises we spend lots of time just by thinking who are the culprits, waste tons of papers writing articles on possible solutions, attend seminars and talk shows and become a celebrate but at the end of the day we totally forget actually what was our purpose of doing these. We can buy sim card with 200% bonus talk time, 500 free sms, 50 free mms, 30 free voice mails without giving vat to govt. But when we buy baby foods, it costs us extra vat. Everybody feels it, discusses about it but never raise their voice. There's no doubt that India is incredible. It's incredible for it's natural beauty, for it's resources, for it's energetic man power but the only problem is the mentality of its population, their ways of thinking. When they will believe that no change will happen magically in a day without the contribution of each and every citizen of the country and if only 1/1000 of its population makes one step forward, the country will go 1 million steps forward. That day it'll really be worth to say- Incredible India.

Yes I am agree with you. Everyone want to change but the question is who start for change. Everyone complaining but think he do not change alone the system. Once a king order his citizen to drop 1 liter milk in the well for the prosperity of his kingdom in the night. What happen can you imagine? Everyone think everyone put milk in the well if I am put water in the well no body know it. Next morning when king visited the site he found the well is full of water no drop of milk. this is our mentality then whom we blamed for all that happen in India.

that is interesting to know about your country. yeah i have read or learned that there is really big gap between extremely rich and very poor people. though we have many poor in our country in the philippines, but the rich here, some of them are willing to help the poor as the government seems not able to help the poor that much and only the private sections can or do the help mostly here. but i know that sadness you feel over the mentality of your people, the people here also has its own mentality that i wanna see change so that our country will improve. i just hope both the people of your country and mine will have change mentality that will be conducive to better society and improvement.

No we can't deny any of these..and this is the typical Indians attitude and is the main reason for our country's slow paced development... India is rich in culture but poor in manners... we are poor in all good things..because we lack that particular attitude "the will to obey and teach the functional principles of rich & developed societies","the evolutionary attitude"... Still we say "Bharathmata ki Jaiho" thanks for the topic.. have a great day/night.....

You summed it all . What more to say. Our country used to be a proud country but sometimes you feel ashamed when you think of these things. Main problem which i can think of is corruption which doesn't allows the government schemes to reach poor people. Our government is full of sick people. In recent days some news channels were showing the news that wheat was kept in open but liqour was kept in storehouses by government. In days to come there will contests by mobile companies in which the winner chosen by lucky draw would be given 5 kg sugar or rice.

Hey, Look i would say we all know the facts but the thing is we are going nothing to stop it. The attitude of " lets move on " is hurting us big time! Also complaining won't help. Rather we should be united and fight against corruption. The biggest worry in India is we are extremely talented, without us the world stands no where yet we don't earn the respect which we deserve. The things u mentioned is rightly no Indian can deny but the thing is what are we doing to stop all this malpractices ? Cheers, Tutul

yes afcourse that "lets move on " attitude is hurting us but i bet its not only indians getting hurt with this attitude.it must be the same in most country's. but i see people out of that attitude sometimes though rare.dont you? :D

These are the effects of Capitalism, and the third world countries are more effected by it, you can find such or little different problem's in other countries too because i live in Pakistan, so the situation isn't much different here where elite class ruining the right's of working & middle-class people. unfortunately we were supposed to implement Islamic welfare state but our essential leaders were killed before they did something practical in order to replace British rules. till then and now we are under same situation of disbandment.

Well I totally agree with you but we have to make an effort to get our country from minus to plus. We have to start from ourselves everyone thinks someone else will do good things why do we need to worry ? This thinking must be changed . It will take some time but will benefit us most. The little things we can do is save water we can save rain water by water harvesting which is going to drainage ,it's like gold going to gutter. We can also save electricity by switching off unneeded appliances and petrol ca be saved by doing some walking when we have to go for near distance. Will this help India to be better place for living ? 100% yes

of course yes the things u say will not only benefit india but the whole world but the difference between countries like US and us is the politicians. dont u agree?

yes it is...very good calculation. But if you look at the positive side...during floods in mumbai...help reached faster than that happened during the floods in US. Rajnikanth donates half of his signed money to charity. Sachin donates a lot to charity...but no one knows about it. Ratan tata wrote who is also a pilot..wrote a letter to Indira Gandhi during the indo pak war that he would go as a pilot if required. Well m not disputing your say...but me being a positive person will always like to put the positive first.

Hey, As iam from Mumbai too. I have noticed some very strange things here. Its a place which is like an ocean. People from all differant cultures, races, religion gels here and earn their daily bread. But the annoying thing is recently we had disturbances which were on grounds of race and religion which is always a political thought and disturbed the peace of common people. The floods in Mumbai u mentioned is a prime example of how big a force we can be if we are united. I saw people coming down the streets and distributing snacks and biscuits to strangers who could not reach home and also providing them shelter in their own house. The help was coming from the common people and they did not even waited for the govt bodies. I don't think thats possible in any where else in the world! Cheers, Tutul

hey eddie, i didnt know about sachin's charity side and ratan tatas letter but i sure know about rajni kanth and not because he is a super star but his kind heart he offers to people. i like him a lot myself and cant hear any thing bad about him. theres no saying about how great deeds he has done. i am sure people of tamilnadu will do anything he asks of them.and he can even become chief minister of tamil nadu with one announcement that hes participating in elections but he wont get into the politics because he knows how it is.
