I Have Lost 40 lbs.!

The stores are benefiting from my weight loss. Every few weeks I have to go shopping for new clothes. This is a costly venture for me, but worth every penny. The first place I stop to seek new to me clothes is the Goodwill Store. I would rather spend a little than a lot on clothing, especially when I will only be able to wear some of the clothes for about a month or more. It is great to be able go into a store and look at a top and know I won't have to try it on because I know it will fit! Shorts or pants are still bothersome for me. The dreaded tummy is my toughest place to lose weight. So needless to say finding things that fit right is a challenge. A friend of mine is also losing weight and as she drops the pounds she gifts me her old clothes. I am delighted to accept them! The Goodwill Store and some of my clients get all of my big clothes. So far I have donated 3 trash bags full of clothes. Would you shop second hand stores for clothing or shop for new. Me...I am too frugal...2nd hand shops for me!

Congratulations my friend and I only wish I knew how to do the same. I am not a big eater but due to disabilities I am unable to get the excercise I need and I battle weight problems terribly. I am so very happy for you, keep up the good work.

Congrats on the weight loss. How have you managed it? Any special diet, or just a lot of hard work keeping active. About the only items of clothing I buy new are underwear and pantyhose. And gardening gloves (I've already worn through two fingers on the heavy-duty pair I got for Christmas, and it's not quite mid-June!).

I either need to wear them out or give them away. I have way too many. Some do not fit me anymore, either.

Good for you!! I would shop 2nd hand also. I would also hit garage sales as they are even cheaper than the 2nd hand stores.

I always purchase new clothing. It makes me feel even better about my weight loss. I do not go out out purchase a whole bunch of outfits or anything but I buy enough clothes to get me through until I need more, probably one pair of pants and two or three t-shirts. I can wear the pants until they are falling off and shirts generally do not look too bad when they are a little bit big for you. So I usually only get new clothes every ten to fifteen pounds. Congratulations on losing the weight! That is the amount that I am aiming to lose. I have already lost 8 so I only have another 32 to go! Good luck and stick with it!

If I am still in the process of losing weight and have not gotten to my goal yet I would definitely go to the goodwill store. But after I have attained my goal weight I would buy nice things new from my favorite sites like Speigels and HSN. Somethings are fine from goodwill but not all. Have to splurge alittle. How did you lose this weight?

Conngratulations on losing that weight! I think that if I haven't attained my goal weight and am still losing I would go to the goodwill. But when I did attain my ideal weight I would have to splurge some and I would visit my two favorite sites Speigels and HSN. How did you lose all this weight anyway?

I used to be a thrift store addict. I weight 108 pounds and the store near me got all kinds of new clothing in ,my tiny size. I had a friend who also shopped at thrift stores. We would compare finds and compete to see who got the best dress for the cheapest price. It was such fun. I'm no longer a perfect size 4 and don't live near a good thrift store. It was fun while it lasted.

Wow! That's amazing and I'd say an achievement. How did you do it? I'm currently pregnant and one of my worry is that when I give birth I'm not sure if I'd be back to my size 23 waistline. I'm petite and when I got pregnant I really gained a lot of weight. That's also the reason though I'm someone addicted to shopping I don't shop that much for new dresses, tops and bottoms as of now. I'm worried that I might not be back to my old figure and will not be able to wear the clothes that I'd buy. I buy secondhand or what we also call pre-loved clothes but I still prefer to buy new one usually online. That's where I do most of the shopping. I'm not really fond of shopping in the malls. Good job to you and hope I'd be able to manage to lose weight also after I give birth this August. Have a nice day always! :)

I have no problem shopping at second hand store as long as the things I buy are still in good condition and I make sure I wash and disinfect the clothes before I wear them. I only buy clothes that are stylish but not necessarily trendy because some trends may not look good on me. I look for clothes that works best for my body type and not try to fit myself in clothes that are not flattering to my shape. I too lost weight about 50lbs to be exact after I gave birth. I don't buy too many clothes at a time because I still need to loose some weight but until I reach my ideal weight I work to mix and match my clothes and adjust them here and there to fit my current size. More power to loosing weight and staying healthy. Congratulations on loosing weight!!!

Well done! You must be so proud of yourself. I think it's a good idea to go to second-hand shops, especially if you're still losing weight. This way you get a lovely new wardrobe on a regular basis, you're sharing clothes you don't need and you're not paying a lot of money for garments you'll only be wearing for a short time. Congratulations again!

First of all congradlation on the weight loss, could you give me a hint in how you are doing it as I could sure benefit from dropping a few (many, lol) pounds and nothing seems to work. I love shopping the Goodwill stores, not only for clothes, but always looking for items that will look good in my home. Pluse they have some fun jewerly, I got one bracelet that looks like a diamond tennis bracelet, and had so many people ask me what I paid for that and where did I get it, it looks so real. Could be I never took it to have it checked. But whatever it cost me a huge 99Cents.lol, when people push me to tell them where it came from, then they don't believe me. If you take your time and look you can find many good buys at the thrift stores. And a good idea if you dropping pounds that fast, and the clothes won't fit for too long. I also shop yard sales, resale shops, any where you can save a buck. A lot of the clothes in Goodwill now have the original sales tag still on them. Not only Wal Mart has sale racks, but me and my daughter watch the sales racks at macys and Kohl's, they have racks marked up to 90% off sometimes especially at the end of the season. Good luck with the rest of your weight loss and please tell us how you are doing it.

Congratulations on your weight loss! That is a great achievment! My husband, daughter and I laugh about second hand shops because we love them and we will spend an entire day going op shop ‘crawling’ as we call it. We will go from store to store and it is amazing the bargains we have picked up! I’ve bought designer labels for under twenty bucks! It is a matter of browsing without anything specific in mind and be open to be surprised. We don’t have much money yet we are all very well dressed thanks to the Salvation Army and Good Samaritans stores!

Congratulations on the weight loss! Forty pounds is not easy to lose! You can get some of the best clothes at second hand shops. I love going to GoodWill in larger cities because they are always full of great brand named clothes that I would not want to purchase brand new (without a giftcard) due to costs. Some of the larger ones have wonderful clothes just begging to be taken home! I have found several business suits at the local GoodWill stores near me. Fortunately, when my children were younger and I was really struggling I would also find great jeans and shirts for them as well. Congrats on the weight loss and keep shopping!!

Congratulations! I look forward to the day when I can say this too. I am hoping it will be reality for me in a few months :) I think that if I lost a lot of weight I'd definitely be raiding the second hand shops first - there's so much awesome clothes to find at super cheap prices in those places. I'd always wanted to go, but there'n not always a lot of plus size stuff that I like. When you're not too big, you have lots of options :)
