Students selling Sperm?

India
July 10, 2010 1:43pm CST
This morning I was reading Times Of India as usual and saw this link about Students selling sperms and that is the latest and good source of money for their smoking and other activities that includes shopping and a dinner date. There are many students registered to sell sperm with the firm and firm is giving students good money. I never knew about it earlier and it came as a news for me. Maybe it was already happenign from so long and I was not aware of it but this is not bad. Because of ethics and other human values this is not very easy for us but still good as it does not do any bad but both - the firm and the one selling sperm is getting their returns. I could do it but not interested anymore. Given a chance, will you go ahead with this act?

I would definitely sell my sperm if I could get paid for it. I don't think I would be able to do it because of my medical history, but I have thought about looking into it. I would definitely want to be an anonymous donor though. The last thing I want is for some kid to show up a few years from now claiming that I am his daddy...LOL

Very valid point, its ok if someone does this before marriage but after marriage it should be a donation to the one who need but no selling. Thank You for sharing.

I would say that I would sell my sperm for the right price. I have never donated my sperm to a sperm bank before, so I am not sure of how much they pay. I guess it would depend on where it was. Did you get a price in US dollars on what they are paying per donation?

Dear Ajay, Of course it is a an ethical question however the answer to you question is not flat. It depends up o the conditions. In my case I would prefer to know the where are my sperms going to be used. I would not allow my biological children to be enslaved in an case or for any purpose. If The donation would help a needy couple to have their dreams fulfilled then I would not charge a penny. Selling the sperms for the money is absolutely unethical in my views.

Thats very good thought, it will be a satisfying act for sure if we donate sperm instead of selling. Thank you for sharing.

This is not good I think Ajay. They can donate sperm on deserving cases but making money from selling sperm is not good. Similarly college girls are selling their eggs, I have heard already about it. The thought that our children may be somewhere living with some other people and we will not be able to know anything about them whether good or bad, it's really bad, I can't stand that. good discussion Ajay.

I understand your Point Vijay and agree to some extend but students doing this do not care about after selling , that is just a money making act for them. If you ask me, I will donate but selling is not a good idea for me as well. Thank you for sharing.

well this is good that people are doing this. so what if they do this for money. well this is a kind of policy that is to attract people to donate this. else no one would step forward for this. so they are not wrong. plus donating it is good, they are bringing happiness to someone's lives.. god bless them.. you should also do this..

I donate blood free for good cause...so why not donate sperm if it is for a good cause. I will atleast make a couple happy wherever in this world they live. It will definately not effect my heath or my personal life. Atleast the world will find another person who will think and act like me.

Thats very good, even I donate blood but not in any camp for the hospital. Donating sperm will again not cause any problem but make a couple happy. Very nice thoughts Thank You For Sharing.

I am not a man, but if you think selling sperm is a good idea. A woman can get 2k for an egg. And yes, I would do that in a heart beat. But you are wrong one part, people have had issues with the donation of sperm. Children have felt lost because there is noway to know how their father is. Often health problems that are genetic can develope later in life and there would be know why for the child to know. Still with all that, I have encouraged my husband to donate his sperm when times are hard. His response has always been "No, because I want to know what children I have father"

I think when a frim is buying anything, they will make sure that whatever they are buying is not bad so that is applicable in case of sperm as well. The one selling sperm will have to go with certain test and if good on all those test then only will be able to sell his sperm. So there is no issue on that, there are doctors who eximine the seller of sperm and give their consent. Thank You for sharing.

I rather not do this kind of act. It's kind of disturbing when you see your kid walking around or probably the gut feeling that that was your child. but of course selling it through a different purpose might be a good idea.
