I have a beagle and it acts very strange sometimes. Like if more then one person tries to pet her she freaks out and runs away, Also if i try to get her to sleep on my bed she sometimes gets aggressive and goes underneath my bed, does anyone know why she might be like that? Could it just be her personality or what?

I think that's the way she is. Her personality is like that, she is a shy dog. There can be some genetic factors, and furthermore probably she didn't socialize enough when she was a puppy. If I were you, I would try to help her fight her fear of people, you know, there is a risk of becoming a fear-aggressive dog. I'm sure you don't want her to bite some children who want to pet her. For the sleeping under the bed problem, I don't force my dog to sleep on my bed with me, though she sleeps in my bed when I'm not there. When I get in bed, she jumps off and goes to her place to sleep. I have never ask her to do that, I think this is the way she shows me she respects my space.

There's a lot of possible reasons why she does those things. If she runs away from the people trying to pet her, it could be that she's not familiar with them. I mean, animals are as apprehensive as humans, sometimes more. Would you allow other people to touch or hold you intentionally even if you don't know them? They also feel that way. Another reason is that she's just being playful. My dog does that sometimes, he gets overly excited when people want to pet him and he runs away. Regarding her 'aggressiveness' when you try to get her sleep, it might be that she's just being playful. Personally, you don't have to worry if she acts like this. Animals also have the right to have mood swings right? lol.

do you own her since her birth? or did you bought her? I guess that's because she experience something in the past. Don't push her, things like these needs time in order for you to earn her trust. try something that involves gentle activities, try not to play with her agrresively.

You mentioned that it just happens sometimes? I have a couple of Beagles myself and found that they all behave differently in some ways. Others are friendly while others seem aloof and don't like being handled especially by somebody new to them. Perhaps your Beagle just needs some reassurance.
