I totally forgot about the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. I was just browsing through Yahoo! and came across an article about it. I really feel bad for everyone affected by the oil spill. One of my friends on vacation went swimming, and globs of oil floated near him. For some idiotic reason, he swam and played with it. I know, hes a weirdo. He got sick a few days later. He had a long rash, and a few pimples. That jerk. Anyway, it really is messing up the world. Many animals and fishes died and are empty where the oil is. This is angering fisherman. What do you think of the world and its oil spills?

hi friend,
You seem to be concerned about nature and that shows you care about the world around you. i have read about the oil spill and saw it all over TV and this is such a terrible situation getting out of hands. now man has been betrayed by what he values. am sure even with efforts of other oil compaines to assist curb the situation still its going to take long before they put it under control.
This highly calls for investment in the alternative energy sector like solar, biogas, ethanol[vegetable oil] as we cannot rely on oil any longer. just look at the repercussions that it had costed BP, and the effects on nature as a whole. a few thousands of barrels of oil will now have its effects on earth for lets say a thousand years to com..!
After a worldwide free to air documentary was shown on TV about the effects of global warming and that the suns rays for an hour a day can provide the earths energy requirements for a year, my dad decided to buy solar panels, inverters, air turbines and batteries that meet our energy needs in the country.
Your friends act of swimming around a mass of oil was dangerous, if sea animals die mankind is not an exempt from that. he should know that it was such an unwelcoming action and not to repeat it again...!
Cheers..!

The same thing happened before in the Philippines. A lot of livelihood were affected specially those living near the gulf. Majority of those affected are fisherfolks and fish vendors. The sad thing is they don't have any other means of livelihood so it was really a hard time for them.
Tourism was also affected because beaches and resorts affected by the oil pollution had to close while the coastal and body of water is being cleaned up. It made me upset specially that the aquamarine life was affected. I was still a student during that time and was very idealistic. I was a Community Development student and the issue was a big deal in our Department and College.
I'm not sure what happened with the oil company who was at fault during that time. I don't know if they were penalized for it but at least they should have given some kind of help to those people whose means of livelihood were affected.

I cant believe how out of hand it has gotten. There has been lives lost! Not only that but some of the animals in the ocean are going instinct because of this stupid mistake! I really don't know all that much about it but what I do know I don't like so i am afraid to look more into it. I do know one thing! Its nice that the gas prices are going down but once they get the oil spill under control our gas prices are going to rocket to the sky to pay for this whole ordeal!

The oil spill has really been bad, and it is not just angering the fisherman. It is angering a lot more communities out there and it has been a while the oil spill has happened. I just wonder how they have been doing to help eradicate the spill. Companies that control or transport oil should be more cautious but human errors can never be erased from the face of the earth. I guess that oil spills are part of life but they should try to prevent it more and learn lessons from the past spills!
