which do you prefer, find easier, or prefer: Online class apposed to traditional in class room setting. I am a sophomore in college and I have realized this summer that the online classes seem wayyyy more easier. Online class has a lot of power points and our traditional classroom has a lot of pop quizzes lol! So let me know which do you prefer?????

I'm not very self-motivated. When I was actually in a classroom I was pushed to do the work. However, when I was at home I wouldn't really do my homework. I didn't have the drive or ambasion to do it. I guess if I did attend college. I would have to actually be around the other students physically or I'd never get anything accomplished.

I have tried both things, and I think that there are advantages and disadvantages about both ways of studying. Right now I study psychology online, and I enjoy studying this way. I am very independent and as long as I have access to the internet I can study any time of the day (or night) I am able to plan my day the way I want to, and I like that a lot. It is also cheaper for me to study this way. I live in the countryside and there are no schools in my village, if I had to drive to school every day, it would get pretty expensive. Sometimes I miss the face-to-face interaction with my teacher and the other students, but aside from that, I enjoy studying this way.

I know exactly what you mean! I live 30 minutes away from my school and trust me it's not very fun traveling 1 hr (there and back total) just for a class that's only a bout an hour and 15 minutes long. Gas is very expensive now a days and I even had to buy a little cheap 4 cylinder car just so I can afford to go to school and back! It's really time consuming!

I am currently doing an on line class, and Im really enjoying it. It beats being in a classroom full of people, and I can work at my own convenience.

Although online classes are very convenient for a lot of people it requires a lot of discipline. One has no one to really ask questions and you have to set an astringent schedule daily to attend. Some people believe it is easier because of the convenience then do not realize how hard it really is. I now people who tried it and have failed terribly. As they forgot that it does take much more discipline on their end.

Yeah I see what you mean. My medical terminology was very demanding and difficult! Whereas, my Human Growth and Development not so much. It also helps that I have had kids so I know a lot about how they develop and grow.

I guess it all depends on what type of person you are, whether you are a busy person on the go, a person with a family, or a person who can donate all their time to their studies because there's not obstacles in the way to prevent them from things.

Online classes are surely much easier, but they cannot give you the opportunity to communicate and become closer with your friends in a real class. I would always choose a class in classroom instead of an online class.

I am not really concerned with making friends, since I lost all my friends in high school when I started having children. In my college its a community one so we go to class get it done then go home. We really don't interact much beyond class room time unless we happen to work or volunteer together. I have a family so I try to go to school and come home quick.

There is lot of limitation for online classes, but in some situations we have to depend on it.I am working as a network engineer and to gain knowledge about new technologies i mostly depend on video classes on the net.I think no technologies can match the convenience of traditional classes.

We are taking exam - I have finished the test ahead.
Online classes are very expensive because some of them are based abroad. We ahve one in the Philippines, the distance education of U.P and since I was an alumna I wanted to enroll in a masteral degree because I want to keep my career while studying.

I would prefer Classroom over online classes as you dont find any friends besides to have a nice chat if the class is boring in real time.we used to have our lunch in my college when the classes were going on and it was fun to pull each others legs and the worst would be when the lecturer notices this.its good to learn at our ease in our home through online sites but we wouldnt be disciplined that way.great day.

As for me, I hate online class, it make me sleepy especially if you're reading long paragraphs of explanations. Plus answer to those quizzes are easy leaked out for cheating. You can't ask you teacher about something that you don't understand instantly, you have to take notes for that matter and if you don't, you would completely forgot what you don't understand when discussion occurs. But, it's just me, I believe that every person way of understanding things. This one's work better for the one student, but sometimes it doesn't work for the other. The ability of a student to learn at school is not base on how good his professor is, it not base how good and popular the university the student is enrolled at... it's all base on HOW EAGER THE STUDENT is willing to learn. ^.^

I simply prefer online classes. For the past year now, I have been attending American InterContinental University (AIU Online) and I love it. I have acquired my Associate's (AABA Business Administration Information Systems) in 1 year which it would've taken me until 2013 at the local community college here. And, now in another year or so, I will acquire my Bachelor's (BIT Internet Security). It requires more discipline of course because there is no testing, only projects, group projects and discussion boards. No one is going to stay on your back about it, so one has to remain focused. My classes are also only 5 weeks with my homework being due every Sunday by 1am EST for me (12am CST for my school time). I enjoy it thoroughly as I can chat to fellow students if I need help. There is online tutoring offered. You can call email or chat to your Professor. There is online interactive course materials. And sometimes you can have your books as pdf files vs. the actual book. Additionally, if you happen to miss the live chat session (class), you can always go back and watch it over because there is an archive kept. There are always people available to chat to for help (Financial Aid, Student Accounts, Technical Support, Library, Career Services..etc.). Some are available 24/7. To top it all off, there is a virtual campus area where you can join clubs and societies. You should check it out! The only disadvantage that I can think of.. is that some classes can cost up to $300-$400 per credit hour!!

When i decided to go back to school it was to an online class. I went to CTU online and with my 3 kids distracting me all the time I had to enroll at a local campus. plus i am going for nursing and that's not really something you can do online. But I know what you are talking about when you explain the convenience of online classes.

Distance learning or online classes would seem the way to go. It is practical since you don't have to go out, notes-wise, you could save virtually all of the notes and you could do your research online. And if you're a visual learner, you could easily learn with the modules and materials they will be sending you through the net. But for me, the most effective way of learning is through personal interaction. Your brain would retain the information more if you hear it (except if you're deaf) and experience it. So I prefer classroom learning. =)

I learn better in the class room but the only problem I seem to have is half way through the semester I seem to get bored with the class and that's a big problem! But my biggest problem with online classes is I always say I will do it later! lol Its also hard when everytime I sit at a computer my kids always bug me because they dont want mom to pay attention to the computer!

Hi Amanda 8157, I took my first online class this last quarter at my college. I took an online Music class (music appreciation kind of thing). I think the type of class itself will change whether it is good for online or not. In my case, the music class sucked. It was very difficult, and was not a pleasurable experience. However, I think that classes such as programming, or other computer sciences could do well as an online class, considering that everything could be done on the computer and if it is a good teacher, he/she may even have video tutorials and such to help you with your studies.

Well it really depends on what you want to do. Online classes are a lot more convenient, but remember, its just a computer. I would rather take real classes. Even though it is less convenient, more expensive, and much more harder, you learn much more. If you aren't in it just for the degrees, then I would recommend taking a real class. You learn more effectively in real life than on the computer. This statement could be debatable though.

Yeah i am going for nursing and 99% of my classes are in the class room obviously. but my human growth and development class is online and so was my medical terminology. They were super easy! Some classes I definitly need hands on class room time but online classes help for subjects that are thrown in there out of no where!

As I don't have experienced online class.I prefer for regular class because I feel I get more from regular class. In traditional classroom I feel more comfortable when teachers are near to me and also I get an opportunity to discuses my doubts with my friend .
