There is an animated matrix movie. Back in 2003 an anime film called "The Animatrix" was released. I've never seen it, but I've heard of it. From what I've gathered it's a collection of a series of short films taking place within the matrix series. I haven't heard of whether or not it's a good series or not, but I imagine it probably is worth the watch if you enjoy the matrix series or if you enjoy anime.

Yeah, Animatrix. It's a collection of nine 10 minute long stories set in The Matrix universe. I bought the original DVD when it came out and got a soundtrack along with it. 2 episodes are directly directly connected to The Matrix Reloaded. To get the complete Reloaded story, you have to watch the "Final Flight of The Osiris" episode from Animatrix and "Kid's Story". Then the story continues in the Reloaded and the game "Enter the Matrix" which is parallel to the movie. 2 anime episodes and the game are both directed by Watchowski brothers. The game contains over one hour of exclusive live action video footage that follows Ghost and Niobe. So basically game + one whole movie lol. The brothers actually meant for Reloaded to be experienced this way, like some kind of multimedial revolution (and a lot of $$$). That's why the movie seems so chaotic. Because it's missing some parts. "Final Flight of The Osiris" episode is in 3D and it was the most realistic animation at the time when it came out. I think it was made by the crew who made the first Final Fantasy movie. It looks pretty good even today. Then there's 2 part story "The Second Renaissance" that shows the creation of intelligent robots, their slavery and lack of rights and the riot that finally leads to war. Pretty disappointing story and feels totally out of place. "Detective Story", "Beyond" and "World Record" are my favorite. They are stand alone stories set in the matrix universe but aren't really linked to the characters or style of the movie (except Trinity appears in Detective Story). I didn't like the other 2 stories. "Program" wasn't that bad but can't even remember the other one. I think you can download all of them for free from the official website. And yeah... I saw the anime and played the game and I still hate the sequels:P
