select one of the linux distros n play with as u like in virtual box(a virtual machine by Oracle sun,enable a use to install guest Os on host OS).Make familiar with installation n try it with ur harddisk.it will help u. if u hav any doubts watch videos in youtube for clarification.. What kind of computer and os did you have before venturing to linux? As RedAWsomeness said try Ubuntu it has a graphical interface now like windows. just download the iso file and burn it to a CD. It's easy to install. No need to watch it. You can even try it first before you install it because once the iso file is burned to the cd it is a Live CD as well. You can use it thru the CD.
