I was just thinking but does any of you think that horses are more dangerous or safe. I'm asking this because my parents say. Its to sdangerous to have a horse as a pet and ironically enough we live on a ranch.

I grew up on a farm in scotland and had a pony, he was never fully trained and I got on well with him even if I did get biten or stood on every now and then but it comes with owning a horse, like people some will have a good temperment and some will not so it is worth to try differen horses and get the right one for you, how they are treated is important to, look after them and they look afetr you.
there may be freak acidents that happen but you could get badly hurt in a car or a bike just the same, be patient with your folks may be it the answer.
I would love anther horse but do not live on a farm any more and I would love for my daughter to learn to ride she is 11.
so I say horses are not dangerouse when treated with respect. like everthing!

i don't think that horses are dangerous. i would like to have one if i could. you're lucky you live in a ranch i think that horses can be dangerous when you don't know how to care for them and when you provoke them. just like any other animals are. you know, like a dog for instance. it's not a wild animal, but if you hurt them or do something to them that they don't like, they would bite you or even maul you if it's big. but if you take good care of it, then they are tamed and won't hurt you.

I think they are just trying to put you off.
Sure, a horse is a BIG animal, and can be dangerous, but so can a house cat or dog...
All depends on training...
I rode for a number of years, I've been bitten, stepped on and kicked, I've also fallen off a number of times but I've made it to nearly 60
