Hi all. A good friend of mine lost her pug of 15 years a couple of weeks. She has been a mess ever since. I want her to get a new puppy right away because having been her shoes more than once, a new life is the best medicine. I want to send her this video to maybe motivate her but am not sure if it might make her sadder, which of course, is not my intention. Do you guys think this video would motivate her to get a new baby or make it worse? Thanks for any input. J

I have to agree with most of the other people that have responded. I would not send her the link, but that is just my opinion. People grieve in different ways. For some, getting a new dog would be a blessing and would ease the pain of the loss they are feeling. For others, however, they might not be ready to accept another dog, and getting a new one might either be too painful or feel like a betrayal to their dearly departed, because it would be rather like "replacing" the one that passed away, which of course can never be done.

Hi Gabs and Gissi I'm sorry Ive been out of touch for the past couple weeks. I have been going through so much with Lambchop. This last round of antibiotics didn't seem to do the trick either and the infection is not laeled "chronic" and my vet wants me to take him to a specialist and talk about surgery to have the anal glands removed. It is dangerous surgery. 2 hours on the table and of course there is a very high chance of losing him on the table as there is when any dog has to sustain anesthesia for so long. I'm really scared and then of course there is the cost and I have been quoted almost 2 thousand dollars. If I was assured that he would not die and that this would be the end of the problem, I would try to get a personal loan But here in the states the banks are not giving loans the way they used to due to our horrible economic situation. I know that I can not stand to see him in pain and when he's on the pain meds, hes fine, but I can't keep him on strong pain meds forever. I have a consultation today with the surgeon and hopefully she will help me make some decisions. I'm beside myself to say the least and this problem has just consumed me since Memorial Day when he had the emergency on the ruptured gland. Anal glands are something a dog doesn't even need which realy makes me mad so if they don't need them, why did God give them to them? I'll keep you posted as to what I decide.
Now for you guys...Gissi, I read your post and can only say Congratulations on your new brother Ginger or Ginger the Ninja as you put it!! How is that going so far. Does he know that you are in charge of everything? I'm sure he does! Are you playing nice together? I'll bet that in time you two will be bestest buddies. Being a big brother can be really cool. You can teach him everything you know and show him the ropes. Do let me know how its going. I so enjoy it when you get the laptop away from Mum!!
Gabby..most people are saying don't send the video, but i know my friend and I think i'm going to send it. I just know that a new puppy is the best medicine in the world for a broken heart and I know from my own experiences. She lives alone and has had Magic for so long that her house seems so empty now. Magic will never be replaced of course and I think he would want his Mum to have a new puppy. I'll keep you guys posted on all that goes on down here. Please send pictures of your new baby..You are such a good person Gabs to give Ginger a home. You will be blessed 10 fold..Love and hugs to all of you...J

Its been a few days since I posted this and there as been a big change. I came across a black female pug at the Humane Society where I volunteer one day a week. The little girl was brought there because her former owners could no longer affor her. The hubby lost his job and he is struggling to feed his family, much less the dog. I saw the dog and immediately went to the front desk to ask about her. She is in very good health and only 2. I thought about it all day and at the end of the day, I went and got her. I only had to pay for the shots they gave her because I work there so I took her home. She so sweet. I took her to my girlfriend the next morning and she stood there at the door staring at us and she started to cry. She hugged me and took the leash from my hand. She leas the dog inside and sat on the floor with her and cried some more. When I thought I had really upset her I said, Nan, I'll take her back. She looked at me with this shocked look and said. YOU WILL NOT! We both laughed and then she hugged me for a very long time. She said 'You are quite the friend and I will never forget this" I don't know when I have been more plesed with myself or a situation. I checked on them this morning and they were at the dog park getting acquainted with all the "regulars". Happy ending to a not so happy story!! Thanks for your post!
