I always wanted to share this but I often forgets. My first name is really ivy and that's it. very short simple and i think it was cute.. When I was young my father was supposed to gave me a very long and ugly name that I wouldn't want to share for obvious reasons. My auntie who was there when my parents were having a discussion with my name. My auntie who overheard the name I was supposed to have, immediately objected and said to my dad "What on earth were you thinking?" My auntie (whom I loved so much) actually told me this story many times and saved me for a possible whole life embarrassment.. thanks aunt Zen! How about you? who gave your name? and do you like it?

I dont like my name really, Bethan. Im always getting called bethany and it annoys me greatly! it ovbiously doesnt have a 'y' on the end of it, im pretty sure i can spell me own name correctly.
Imthankful my mum named me this though, if it was up to my father i would have been called bernidetta. :S

I love your name Ivy but I hate mine and always have but its just
too much trouble to change it now,all my various cards and insurances all have Patsie on them so to heck with it. I would have preferred Patricia instead. My mom named me so Iam told: my middle name is her first name Margaret. Patsie is t he way I spell it but in the dictionary Patsy means someone who is made a fool of and who wants that hanging over them all their life?

Both my mom and my dad agree what name is to be given to me but I do not know who came up with the idea first. Because both of them were Catholic so they search names in the Bible and come up with the name of Archangel Michael, they say that Archangel Michael as a characteristic of a warrior. Also my nickname came also from the Holy Bible, well for me, my name is a good name and I like it but quite common still I thank that my name is not wierd or ugly.

my father gave me my name. It's Vivian and means something like playful and vivid. When I was little I hated my name was I couldn't pronounce it and people wouldn't understand me when I try to tell them what my name was. Now that I've learned to speak my name correctly, I've formally made my peace with it and Vivian is a name that I could live with.

Well, my real name is far from my username here.
My Mom gave birth to me in the province sans my father who was then working in the city. So , one day when I was a week older they decided she'll join him. It is a belief that a baby should not travel especially crossing seas without getting baptized first.
So, my mom gave me the name she thought of near to that of St. John the Baptist , my birthday falls on the day of his feast. Then accidentally, she read the name of an actress while reading the paper. She thought the name was perfect!;-)
The name is Jo-an.:)

My parents told me that while they were in the hospital, my father suggested names such as, Levis, wrangler and other jeans names. lol, but my mother resisted. Until they settled on Nover which is taken from my birth month.
But would you believe that I'm currently living in a house together with my cousin which name is also Nover and is also born on November? but he is one year younger than me. So to not confuse us when someone is calling on one of us, they gave sa nicknames such as Nover & Yesver, Novel & Nover, Tots & tets, Ambot & Ambit, etc. It's funny but it's good to avoid confusion between us.

I really don't like my first name. I have 2 first names, mom and dad gave it. I just didn't like how it sounded. How others say it. Don't you guys feel that way? That is why I rarely introduce myself with that name. I like the nickname made from that name more than the name itself. Well, what I can do.. I think I can't change my name anymore. Oh well, that's that.

It was my mom who actually chose my name. She even mentioned that she saw it on a dictionary of names and most of the time, I share the meaning of my name as "garland of roses". My mother loves seeing red thing during her pregnancy that's why she thought of that name for me.

My parents agreed to name me after a priest, and literally they took the full name of the priest and made it my first names :).

Both my parents agreed on my name, but my mother wanted is spelt ending in a "Y" and my father wanted it spelt ending in "IE" My dad always tells me that my mom won because there "is no arguing with a pregnant woman." I think he is mostly kidding ;)
My first name is not named after anyone but my middle name is a name that many of my family members have used as their middle name. My grandmother's sister passed away when she was 10 months old and her first name was my middle name, so I like to think that I am named after her. My other grandmother has the same middle name as I do.
I don't mind my first name, but I prefer my middle name more. I think my sister has a nicer first name than I do.

I think both my parents picked my name. But I used to tell my mom she was just being lazy because I was born on St Patrick's Day and my name is Patricia. Real orignial I would tell her. but now that I have had my own daugter I tell her good going how did you manage to have me on the right day! :) I like my name fine I guess it fits me. The whole name flows well which was my moms requirement in case she had to use it quickly. My daughters name flows too, good thing I have to use it quite often she is about as rotten as I was!
