yes, it is really a hand of God.
but i am not discussing about maradona's hand ball, i am talking about Suarez's (URU) hand to the ball in the very last minute of 2nd half extra time of quarterfinal against Ghana. The ball is directly entering to the goal, beating all even goalkeeper. Then he pushed his hand forward to save the goal (he is a striker, not goal keeper) and got RED card with penalty in favor of Ghana.
And Ghana missed the penalty and the game moves to tie-breaker where Uruguay beats Ghana !! and moves to semi-final !!
Unbelievable, valuable and important RED card and sacrifice for the team.

goldenrose2,
To me this is perhaps the second disgraceful incident of the 19th FIFA World Cup Soccer tournament.
Luis Suarez is certainly a disgrace as a professional player and has brought disrepute to himself and his country. I really did not appear one bit agreeing with this character who is so rightfully jeered every time he received a pass or is in possession of the ball in the third and forth placing match between Germany and Uruguay.
And, I had to shake my head when he audaciously claim that he is the "hand of god" is utterly despicable.
But, I am sorry that I must disagree here and correct this title to the "hand of the devil"!

goldenrose2,
Thank you for your understanding or misunderstanding of the rules of soccer.
Are you saying that as long as a goal is imminent it is alright for any player other than the goalkeeper to use their hands to stop the ball from entering the net?
If it is, then what is the point of having soccer rules?
We might as well have 10 players crowding a goal mouth, raise their hands to prevent the ball from entering the goal and call it a good game.
Ya?

A hero, in one point of view is zero from the opposite side.
I can give a lively example as Paul. Paul is hero for the Spain but zero for Germany and Argentina !!
What Suarez did, all the football players like to do it in the dieing seconds. Then how did he disrespect the football? I think that any Ghanaian player also did in same situation knowing the punishment.
Please think properly. It is not disrespecting Football.

Those kind of intentional play making has no place in the football game and they should have been ban for a time being in doing so. Ghana should have won that game with a very legitimate goal but they are robbed by Uruguay and was denied for their first ever quarterfinal game in world cup. It is very clear that he don't have any intentions of saving it other than his own hand and that I believe is a grave mistake and it's a bad kind of sacrifice. He should have been penalized more than just a red card and penalty kick so others won't be doing it over and over again.

goldenrose2,
Are you saying that the hand ball by Luis Suarez is unintentional?
Really?

Geezz, did you really understand the rules of football? Intentional or not he should face the consequence of his action which is illegal in the game of football. But blaming it to Ghana that they aren't able to convert the penalty kick is absurd. What I am trying to express in that, red carding a player is not enough punishment for them not to do it over and over again. And that is what it should be done. How many times this kind of situation happened?

Ha Ha Ha! Humorous Reply !
If it is true, then why Uruguay has to face penalty. Ghana should be awarded as winner of the game at that moment !!
That is an intentional error and got punishment. And Ghana should took the unwanted advantage which Gyan failed to convert and we are angry over Suarez. WHY?

Hand of God, Hand of a Cheat!! I mean how can you even think of cheating as an action of God!! I thought Suarez's act was a real shame and FIFA should have handed him a very heavy ban such as a year or two!! That would have acted as a deterrent so that others like him do not emulate his feat and get down to cheating. Poor Ghana!!
Cheers!

What is the difference between what Henry did and Suarez did. Actually no difference. Both used their hands to ensure that their countries progressed. Don't get biased by your support for Uruguay to see what is wrong. Had I been in Suarez place, I would have tried to reach the ball with my head failing which I would have taken the goal with my chins held high!!
That is what a sports man is there for. Not crying, but boldly taking the good with the bad, the wins with the losses. If everyone did like what Suarez did there will be no sportsman spirit!!
Cheers!

i want to ask a question that if you were there in the place of Suarez what did you do or what should you do at the moment.
i think if you were there you would cry why did not i try it !!
Please if i hurt you i am very very sorry. Because if i was there i liked to do what Suarez did.
It is not guilty like Henry to qualify for World Cup. Henry was cheating, not Suarez was. It is only sacrifice.

Yes, that is not the sportsman spirit where you are not giving for you country or your team. But that is not a sportsman spirit where you are pulling down the team in trouble.
And about cheaters: We makes lots of guilty in our life which we tried to prove that we are not guilty or gives the name of others who did it. may be in that case it was proved that the other one did it, not i. But GOD is checking it. He will treat us as a cheater. But if it is proved that we was guilty and we got punishment. GOD may be call us as cheater but he will treat us as guilty person. THAT IS THE DIFFERENCE.
Henry had denied that it was not hand ball at all but Suarez never did, even no complain against the decision. THAT IS THE DIFFERENCE.
A player should play for the team but not by the way of cheating ...
I hope you are happy now. If you still did not satisfied, don't be angry over me, you should play any sports events as well as writing here also. You can feel it.
Sorry, very very sorry, if i hurt you. As i have no right to hurt you.

it was a greave error committed by uruguay against ghana....it should have been given a goal. Luck also did not favor ghana as they could not convert the penaly. finally its all history and we will only talk about it for sometime and will forget it.

I believe it's not a grave error since it is very clear that it has all the intentions of disallowing that goal. Giving the goal at first hand I believe is not fair too even the intention is there to disallow it. I think the best thing to deter this kind of malice play making is to hand them more harsh punishment and not just red card alone. I think banning the player for a certain time (not just like the red card ban) and a fine would help for them to think twice.

It is all about the sacrifice of himself for the country, it should be a great lesson of any footballer. Right decision at right moment. It is obviously an intentional error but he got punishment as RED card and penalty !!
It is a great mistake by Ghana can't take the chance better to say the unwanted chance which is not properly taken by Gyan and saved and the match moved to tie-breaker !!

Suarez is not GOD or DEVIL. What ever the decision he had taken at the moment, that is the best decision even i was there i might try to do that also.
For the punishment, he got RED card and Ghana was awarded penalty. All the angry is going to Suarez. But why?
It is because Gyan missed the penalty !! It is his error not Suarez's error. Then i have to say that we are making mistake !!
