I don't really pay attention to the color of my handbag and my shoes. It doesn't really matter that they don't match to each other. I don't want to change a handbag often because it is easy to miss something after that. My handbag is black, and I think it can suits many situation and dress.
I love China

This is actually the first I've ever heard about matching your shoes with your handbag. I never carry a handbag but a backpack and my shoes never match that !

Gosh, I hope not, otherwise I would never be in fashion!
Yes, I think that is a bit outdated unless you are going someplace
classy or formal.
I use the same black handbag for everywhere, everyday use.
My Mom goes one step further and matches her socks, too..lol

Hi cher913.
I don't know about handbags and shoes, but I do follow a brown and black rule for guys. I don't wear a brown belt when I'm wearing black shoes. And vice versa. I may be forced to combine brown and black if I had no choice, but it just looks funny to me.
That's just me.

I think if you consulted Ms. Manners, she would say yes, it matters.
I would still like to go out with matching shoes/purse to a special occasion... at least the same color(s). Maybe that's because of my age and the way I was raised. I couldn't say for sure. I just think it makes me (or anyone) look more "put together".
But, I've never been one to follow the fashion industry. I wear what I like when I want to wear it. I only wish I could go out more often on "special" occasions. My husband doesn't like to go anywhere. I think he's going to let me make plans for us to go to an Ocean resort soon because I told him I bought a new bathing suit and I intend to wear it at a beach THIS YEAR. He knows I'd go alone if he doesn't want to come so I have the feeling he'll be going with me. Of course, bathing suits don't require matching shoes and purses, unless you'd consider flip flops and beach bags "shoes and purses".

Hi Cher913,
I'm not a fashion expert, but I'm pretty sure most people consider that an old rule now. I think people pretty much wear what they want to now within reason. I remember you weren't "supposed" to wear dark color shoes any more after a certain date. I think it might have been May 1st? Now I don't think that rule is followed either.
These rules the fashion people make up just so they can sell their new lines of products each season, I think. What do you think about that?
