I live in the South in the USA so we get thunderstorms almost every day from June till August. I personally love them, not quite sure why but I do. Love to watch the lightening and smell the sweet air. How about you? Do you like them or ??

I love them when you look at it at a distance. But i hate it when it's very near and you literally jump at your feet when a thunder strikes and your lights are tripping as if there will be a brown out any moment caused by the sudden surge of energy. We don't experience thunderstorms in this part of the world but there had been a number of reports of people being struck by lighting and more often those are fatal strikes.

I have always loved thunderstorms! When I lived in Maryland thunderstorms usually went eat to west, or west to east, and I would go from one end of the house to the other, watching the lightening as they came and went. Drove my parents crazy! Now, I live in Florida and, like you, we have storms popping up in the afternoons just about every day. We have a partially covered deck and I love sitting out there when a storm is coming or going, watching the light show. Many times I can watch storms in the distance and see the lightening travel across the sky for what looks like miles.

I too love rain, thunderstorms and snow storms. Love it all. Where I live in New Mexico we get very little rain here. So when there is a thunderstorm we all get so excited. Even though sometimes the thunder is so loud we still love. Once you live with little rain or storms you crave for it more so. I never thought I would miss rain or thunderstorms after living in New York for the better part of my life.

Hi Tallygirl,
I lived in New England for almost all my life and we could get quite violent thunderstorms there. I like them too unless they get too bad. I used to go out on my screened in porch there on the 2nd floor and watch them while sitting on a glider. That was fun with all the windows on three sides around us.
Now I live in the Midwest and we get them pretty bad here too and maybe a little more often. It seems to be a little windier here with them and we have a lot of trees around. Therefore, it can get a little scary at times. But, I still generally like them more than not.

I'm quite happy with thunderstorms if indoors, as they are often accompanied by rain. I often cycle to work, and hate getting soaked!
