What does the word "LOL" means? / myLot

Well, I found many people use this word "LOL" while chatting, I am just wondering what does it really mean? Many time came across this word but never got its meaning. Here, on myLot many people do use this word, I am so curious to know the meaning of this word. myLotters please guide me on how to use this word, and what does it mean? Please explain me with examples if you can. Just CHILL !!

Hi keval, LOL is an abbreviation for: 1) laughing out loud 2) laugh out loud or sometimes 3) lots of laughs I think you're kidding in posting this discussion as you don't know the meaning of LOL...lol=)

Well, Adel. I really didn't know the meaning of this word, even though I am 3 months old here on forums. Actually I never tried to get the meaning of this word, it may looks strange but really I didn't know it before. By the way thanks for your reply.

LOL! i find it funny for the second time i have found discussions asking what does LOL mean?haha hey,keval,how come you don't know that?do you forget to use emoticons here? i just wonder. Yes Annavi, I also wonder that being here on myLot for long time though how I don't know the meaning of such abbreviations? Well, I have used emoticons here, but just never paid attention on them. By the way thanks for sharing. Take care.

As what others said it is Laugh Out Loud. The first time I heard it of course it was kinda weird for me but now I am often using that when I really laugh. But at times it is becoming an expression. Here in the Philippines other people misinterpreted that LOL into ULOL word because ulol or ulul means you are crazy and that is the expression using when the person is funny or at times if others are being angry to another person.
