Email in Hacking Status

These days i get emails from my friend with a link to selling some goods. When i asked my friend he did fell sending the email and he also received complaints from the others on this subject. He email address has seems heck by someone and use it for purposes that do not do any good. If anyone has solutions on the prevention of repetition of events like this please be informed because many parties have became uncomfortable with this including myself. My purpose to ask for help especially to help my friend email not misused again. I've asked for help but so far i do not know to handle it. Myloters help would be valuable
