Ask good questions that people will respond to in some depth. Give good quality responses and make the response relevant to the topic of discussion, which means reading through the whole discussion. Certainly it takes a little more time to respond in this way, but it does pay dividends. Also upload photos that are appropriate to the discussion and response. Respond to those discussions started by people on your list of friends, and if you give a quality response then they are more likely to acknowledge it with a positive rating or even a best response. You have to be consistent with the amount of time you are here on myLot and do not think "I have to make 50 responses before I can log off" but instead think "I have 2 hours and need to make some good quality responses in that time". I do not start that many discussions at all but when I do start one, I take the time to read through them and reward people who give a good quality response and anyone who answers with a couple of words gets nothing at all. Reading the responses you get also allows you to check to see if anyone asks a question, so you can comment on that. It does not pay money certainly but it does if the person has their question answered, then they will respond to more of your discussions. If someone has a good photo that they have uploaded, then rate it if you think that is the right thing to do. If you can do that, then more than likely someone else will do it for you too. Mainly the only discussions I respond to are those of my friends but of course I do have some friends who are constant as they also respond to my discussions. Those who do not respond to my discussions are deleted from my friends list, so you need to think about who responds to your discussions and those are the ones that you respond to. Yes it is possible to make good money here on myLot but it does mean some effort has to be put into it both by way of thinking of good questions, giving good quality responses and being consistent in the quality of both.
