Money making/Freebie challenge

July 13, 2010 4:06pm CST
Hi all, I thought I'd include you all on my latest idea to get me motivated to making some money online. I've tried starting a blog that covers the money making sites I'm using and how they work, payout, pro's and con's etc but it doesn't quite seem to be enough. This year I'm going to try and do enough online, from earning money, points and freebies from different sites, to get all my xmas presents this year. That gives me around 6 months, to make enough for a big shop at xmas. I know xmas is a long time away as yet but it's my favourite celebration of the year and I always spoil the people I buy for. It just gives me more of a motivation and something to aim for. What do you think? Give me your thoughts!

I went to your profile so I could look at your blog before responding...but you don't have it listed. So I don't know if you are using a free site or if you have your own domain. If you are looking to climb in the search engines then you will want to have your own domain...it also shows that you are making money...when I see a blog and they are claiming to make money yet they don't have their own domain I tend to take a pass. I have been earning online for many years, so I know what I am looking for. I see that you have been a member here for 3 years is that how long you have been earning online? If so then in 6 months you should have more than plenty for Christmas. I am all for whatever can motivate a person...good luck

I've been a member for three years but haven't been pulling my weight on the site to be honest. I have been dabbling in working from home on and off...hence the need for more motivation. I do have a free blog at the moment. It's been more of an experiment for me. Firstly because it's the first blog I have ever owned (but not written for) and secondly because I want to see and help other people with making money online with as little expenditure as possible and if I can do it without spending anything that would be an even better result. It might be naive on my part, but as I say, that part of things is quite experimental. I'm hoping my 6 month challenge will work as more motivation to keep me on my earning track. So that in ten years, I can say I have been also been working online for many years! Thanks for posting.

You are welcome. Domain versus free...it also shows people that you are serious and in it for the long haul. It is good that you want to help others. I spend time everyday answering peoples questions...when I started there wasn't anyone to really ask. My domain and hosting are my only expenses...I NEVER pay out of pocket to join a program or upgrade in a program.

Hey mom what hosting service are you using? I am looking for a good one that will not be super expensive but not so cheap that it sucks.

I think that is a great idea. I know that it can sometimes be hard to get online and earn extra money for some folks. I am glad you are dedicated enough to challenge yourself. What is your website address? If you have blogger I will add your site. I have also sent you a friend request on MyLot. Good luck with your online earning for Christmas!

There is one program I'd recommend the most but you might already be a member of it. If you are interested I will send you an invitation to join. It is 100% free and I've earned hundreds of dollars worth of retail and restaurant gift cards from it over the years. Let me know.

That would be great, thanks. I'd appreciate that. The more help the better.

That does sound like a wonderful idea. It would really give you a clear goal set up in your mind and you would be able to accomplish it. I don't think I would be that motivated to make so much online because everything is so expensive now. I think it would take me forever to reach that goal. I wish you all the best in reaching your goal and happy shopping for you. =)

Maybe its the shopping that is the biggest motivation :P I have been a bit lazy with it at the moment I have to say because I've been unwell, but I'm just gonna start trying to push through it. Christmas comes round too quickly for me to leave it. I'm really hoping it's something I can achieve, as I find lack of motivation to be my biggest problem sometimes but I used to be so good at sticking to my goals. Hopefully the more people post in response, the more I will feel like I have to achieve that goal! Thanks for posting, I appreciate the support.

I am also hoping to pay for all of our Christmas presents for my daughters and my husband this year. I missed quite a bit of time on most of my sites when we got married in April between planning, the wedding and honeymoon but I am doing okay. Last year I paid for about half of our Christmas with earnings from June-November. I save all my Amazon gift certificates until I our big shopping, and try and keep all the cash payments in my paypal account.

Wow you seem to do pretty well with it :) I would love to hear any ideas you have. I hadn't thought to save my certificates but I think that's something I'll do from now on. I also earn points from others sites, which I could save and then cash in for small stocking-fillers. Does your husband also work online or is it just yourself?

Personally there are so many different ways out there that a person can earn some extra $$ both online and offline as well. Actually, the possibilities are endless but you need to watch out for Scams as well. But personally anytime you can find Great ways to earn some extra $$ you become a better person as well. Wishing you the Best in achieving your goals.

That is a WONDERFUL idea - I love it 100%! Good luck to you! I have found that some survey sites are especially helpful with this, as you can easily get Amazon e-gift certificates ,which you can buy pretty much anything with - books, movies, electronics, and so on. I totally love your idea, and I'm sure you can do it. I recently started signing up for freebies myself, and that has been pretty exciting. My family is also pretty broke, so I was thinking of compiling shampoo samples, coffee samples, little food and cosmetic samples, into a little gift bag for a mini-gift around the Christmas time. Christmas is so stressful money-wise (even moreso after ,when you get all of your previous months' credit card bills) that this is an amazing idea. I'm all for it.

Thank you! I'll need all the support I can get. I'm just hoping it'll motivate me enough to keep going after xmas! I know exactly what you mean about all the bills coming up after xmas as well. I love the idea of putting all the samples together, that would make a great stocking-filler. I'm planning on making some of my prezzies to, but sometimes that works out more expensive! Do you have anything you particularly do to save money, or do things online to increase your earnings? I'd love to hear about them if you do.
