Share your favorite urban legend(s). There are sooo many out there, some of them full of laughter, while others are just too eerie for their own good. One of my favorite Urban Legends has always been Bloody Mary. Urban Legend:"Bloody Mary!" Chanting her name 13 times, standing in a dark room, staring into a mirror, will cause her vengeful spirit to show arise. The Story: Go into a room with a mirror and turn all the lights off. Bathrooms seem to be perfect for this since they almost always have a mirror and are usually dark at night with the lights off and the door closed. Light a candle, look into the mirror, start chanting "Bloody Mary" . You have to do this 13 times, of course. You should see Bloody Mary behind your left shoulder after the thirteenth time. Beware, she has been reported to 1.) Kill the person calling her, 2.) Scratch their eyes out, 3.) Drive the person mad or 4.) pull the person into the mirror with her. This is an old legend, it has been around for ages. A folklorist, Janet Langlois, published an essay on the legend back in 1978. At that time, the legend was wide spread across the USA and a popular slumber party ritual done by girls as well as boys. No one knows the true origins of the Bloody Mary tale, she's been known to be anything from a witch that was killed for practicing witchcraft to a modern day woman killed in a car crash, depending on what part of the country you live in. It was made popular again in the film Urban Legends in 1999.

Chupacabra - It's the Chupacabra!
Mine is the legend of the chupacabra. "The chupacabra is a cryptid said to inhabit parts of the Latin America. It is associated particularly with Puerto Rico (where it was first reported), Mexico, Chile, Brazil and the United States, especially in the latter's Latin American communities and Maine. The name translates literally from the Portuguese and Spanish as "goat-sucker". It comes from the creature's reported habit of attacking and drinking the blood of livestock, especially goats. Physical descriptions of the creature vary. Sightings began in Puerto Rico in the early 1990s, and have since been reported as far north as Maine, and as far south as Chile. Though some argue that the chupacabras may be real creatures, mainstream scientists and experts generally contend that the chupacabra is a legendary creature, or a type of urban legend." --- Quoted from Wikipedia

I've always loved stories about the infamous, chupacabra! Thank you so much for sharing this response with us. I'm a little odd on this subject though. While it would be awful for such a fierce creature such as the, chupacabra, to exist. A part of me still believes that there reall is a, chupacabra. Just like that same part of me believes in Bigfoot, Nessie, and various other legends of lore. lol ^_^

Cemetary Gate * Resurection Mary's Handprints* - The main gate had been bent outwards, and the bars bore the imprint of human hands.
Which are believed to be Resurrection Mary's hands.

Officials quickly removed the bars - but, embarrassed, later re-installed them, using a blowtorch to obscure the handprints. The two burned areas could still be seen.
The gates' bars have since been replaced because of spectators~
I luv Urban Legends. And Bloody Mary is one of my favorites. And the one I was going to comment on. lol So I'll pick another interesting Lady. Resurrection Mary*Chicago Ghost* Anna Norkus a.k.a. Resurrection Mary*One of Chicago's famous ghosts* There are so many different tales with this one. But my favorite, has to do with the cemetary gate. A passerby saw a woman locked inside the fence of the cemetery after dark. Rather than stopping, he called the police, who came to let her out. When the police arrived, she was nowhere to be seen - but they discovered that two bars of the main gate had been bent outwards, and the bars bore the imprint of human hands. Officials quickly removed the bars - but, embarrassed, later re-installed them, using a blowtorch to obscure the handprints. The two burned areas could still be seen. The gates' bars have since been replaced because of spectators~

That's another one of my favorites! Though I'm often torn between the feeling that it's a tragic story on her part, more so than being creepy. I'm not sure, maybe it's just my heart reaching out to her. Though I do have a bit of food for thought, something for you and everyone else to ponder. Bloody Mary, Ressurection Mary... Is there something about women named Mary who become vengeful spirits? lol

Here's another one of my favorite Urband Legends, known as "The Doberman" or " Drip, Drip, Drip ". One night a young girl is left alone for the night, in her country house, while her parents drove out to town for a party. This was fine with the girl, especially since she had her faithful dog protecting her throught the night. She made herself something to eat, and sat down at the kitchen table. Turning on the radio to her favorite station, she was surprised to hear a news bulleten declaring that an avenged murderer was on the loose. It advised that people secure all windows and doors as a safety precaution. With her dog by her side, the young girl locked the front and back doors. She went from window to window, and locked each of them one at a time. She reassured herself that she would be fine with her trusty dog, and that her parents would be home shortly. The girl had a pleasant, peaceful evening, and finally decided around 11 it was time for bed. So she climbed into bed, and before closing her eyes, reached her hand down under the bed, and allowed her dog to lick it-she did this every night, because it comforted her. A short while later she awoke to the sound of a scratching noise at her bedrooom window. She eyed the window, and reminded herself that the window was locked and she was safe. She stuck her hand under her bed and felt her dog's slobbery tongue cross over the palm of her hand. She sighed and went back to sleep. An hour or so later she sat up in bed...She heard footsteps in the hallway, and crept out of bed to see if it was possibly just her parents returning from their party. Seeing nothing, she returned to bed. As she was about to stick her hand under the bed, she heard a drip, drip, drip, followed by some footsteps. She walked downstairs into the kitchen and secured the the taps. That surely wasn't the source of the drip. She crept upstairs and climbed into bed. "This is silly," she told herself "I'm probably just imagining things." She stuck her hand under the bed, and felt the dog lick her hand. An hour later she awoke again. A little mad at this point, she jumped out of bed. The dripping wasn't coming from the kitchen so it must be from the bathroom. She crept along the side of the hallway, and walked into the bathroom. She groped along the side of the wall with her left hand, looking for the light switch. She flicked the light on and gasped. There, hanging from the shower rod was her dog..skinned...a pool of blood had formed on the bathroom tile with a continuous 'drip, drip, drip' as the blood from the dog hit the ground. Something on the wall caught her eye..Written on the wall was a message in blood...."Humans can lick too."
