Dear MyLotters,
This topic comes to my mind while I am doing my cooking justnow.
For my family, we seldom dine-out, my husband prefer home-cooked dishes. So I have to cook for my family everyday.
Especially with a toddler at home, it is best to cook at home ,because outside food is not that healthy, more salt and more MSG.
I will only dine out with my family for certain occasion like birthday celebration or relatives visit from other town,or else, we will have our dinner and lunch at home everyday.
Even for breakfast, I get ready myself. I seldom dine out too.Only once awhile, then me and my husband will out for breakfast after sending our son to school.
Let's discuss here ,how often do you dine out with your family or your friends? What food will you go for?

We like to go out at weekends..Sometimes we go after lunch and we come back to have dinner at home itself...Last weekend what we did was we took lunch box had lunch in car itself and after we made shopping and evening came back to home...
Both benifits..No pocket burning and also healthy food also..
My kids also d'nt like spicey foods...

Hi,
Wow..that sounds great to have lunch box and having lunch together inside the car.
How old is your kid? For me, It is quite troublesome to have lunch box inside the car as my son is just 3.5 years old. It will be in mess if were to eat inside the car.
Normally ,during Sunday, we will have breakfast in the morning, after shower, then we will go out for a while for refreshing and come back home before lunch time.
Then I will get ready lunch and we eat together at home.
I cook every day....from breakfast,lunch to dinner.
My son does not eat spicy food too.he is too young for it.
He only enjoy his tomato ketchup most of the time while me and my husband are having our chilly sauce.

We go out possibly once a month. Usually to a Chinese or Indian. There is a good Moroccan restaurant within a 40 minute walk. We also have Thai, Mexican and more very close.
We have to be careful where we eat, as my partner has a gluten allergy, and wheat is in so many products/ sauces. Much if the time catering staff are poorly trained in this respect- my partner's works restaurant staff thought that pasta were gluten free!

Hi,
Going to Moroccan restaurant? What food do they serve?
I never been to this kind of restaurant before.
Normally, I will only have either chinese or malay food when I dine out.
I also love thai food especially the tomyam and curry.
Taste great!!
I still prefer home cooked meal.more healthy and can have fun with whole family
together at home.

Moroccan is mostly spicy- with flavours not hot powdered- dishes. Lamb is the most popular meat, but with little fat, and cooked to fall off the bone. Very similar to some ancient Egyptian dishes. Some seafood, sweet desserts and ices, strong coffee. I can send you a link to our local restaurant to get an idea of the menu.
At home I usually cook Chinese, Indian, or something unusual, such as ancient food dishes. My partner cooks traditional English.
We can't eat pasta out, because of the gluten- and at home we have to cook separately, as GF pasta is about 4 times the price of wheat based.

dear shia,
i am most of the time dining out. yes! that is because i am living alone and after office i feel already tired and cooking would be more expensive than just buying outside or eating out. during weekends, that is the only time i get to cook. my daughter visits me and sometimes she brings along some cooked food with her family and then we dine together.
cheers,
ann

Hi,
I can understand your situation, since you are working, sure you
will have the mood to cook at home after your work.YOu must be too tired for it.
But it is good that you still have chance to cook during weekend.
By the way, your daughter is staying with who now?
It is always fun can have a meal together with your daughter, even dine out or having meal at home is great too.

Hi Shia,
How are you? For myself I will cook every evening for dinner.
However, during weekend we will normally spend our time at
the mall. Weekend outing for a movie and some shopping will
lead us to have dinner at the mall. For breakfast, we
normally have it at home, some simple meal. Cost of living
is high, eating out become expensive nowadays :)

Hi Iriene,
Yes, I am doing fine and now I am back to MyLot again after been missing for more than half a year.
So how are you doing???
For me, I will prefer 3 meals in a day for my family from breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Even during weekend, I still have to cook.
Dine out is quite expensive, once a while is Okie...but if everyday, don't think is good.
So what you cook for breakfast?
I also make simple breakfast for my family. like sandwich and noodle and porridge.
Sometimes, I will have headache of what to cook for dinner. Since my son is not eating meat,so I will cook at least one vegetable for him. Twice a week, I will cook fish for my family too.
Enjoy your day !!

Hi BabyEj,
Thank you for your respond.
I guess you are same with me. I also have to cook everyday.
My husband also does not like to dine-out,he prefers home-cooked dishes.
And with my boy around, I also prefer him to have a home-cooked meal at home.
At least, the food that I cook is more hygiene and less salt and less MSG.
So normally what dish do you cook?
SOmetimes, I will have a big headache of what to cook for the day.
it seem like I have to repeat the same dish every 2 weeks.
I am lucky that my son likes to eat green vegetables alot, so I have no problem with cooking green vegetables.
Cooking for my family can be fun.....when I saw them enjoy the food that I cook, I feel happy.

Hi,
It is good to dine out once a while, but not everyday.
When I back to my hometown, my dad will bring me to Chinese restaurant for chinese food.
But there was a time whereby I am craving for western or malay food.
I love those spicy food like curry ,rendang, tomyam.

Hi,
Thank you for your comment.
It sound great having dine-out once a week. At least, you can try different kind of dishes outside.
So normally what food you will go for?
I also like to dine out once a while,at least I can try other people cooking.

Hi,
Thank you for your respond on my discussion.
I used to dine out sometimes before my son is arrived.
Since the arrival of my son, we seldom dine-out,not even weekend.
My husband also prefer home-cooked meal, and for the good sake of my son, I prefer to cook myself.
A simple dish : 1 vegetable,1 meat and 1 soup for 3 of us. That is more than enough.
At least the food we are taking is healthy for our family.

well, eating at home is way better than dining out, because it is more comfortable at home and cheaper I guess. But of course there are times when everybody craves for something. I prefer to dine-out with my friends, once a week we eat at a fastfood chain since most teens can afford fastfood rather than gourmet food. But when me and our family dines out, mom usually splurges and we eat at gourmet restaurants. But I really like just the bonding time and not the food in general and I like fastfood cuz it's more economical these days. BUT, home cooked meals are WAY way better. :)

HI,
Thanks for dropping by my discussion.
I agreed with you that home cooked meal is definitely cost cheaper than dine out. If you were to dine out everyday, for sure you have to spent more than cooking yourself at home.
But the most important is the hygiene and the nutrition of the food. Home cooked meal definitely has less salt, less MSG,which is better for our body.
Once a while, I will go for fast food restaurant like KFC,MacDonalds and Pizza Hut with my family.
If I were to go back to my hometown, then my dad will bring us go to restaurant for dinner. The food is definitely delicious and I always feel happy can try other people's dishes.
I also miss my mom's cooks alot. She can cook better than me ,for sure.
I still have to learn alot in cooking. So far, I can only cook simple dish for my family. For those complicated dishes, I will give up.
