Imagine My Surprise When...

...I opened up an important-looking, large white envelope, only to discover it WASN'T what I was expecting. What a disappointment!
This happened earlier on. It even had a fancy white sticker on it with my name and address on there (obviously) lol. Don't see those too often and I really, REALLY thought it might've been from the Cumberland Building Society inviting me for an interview.
No such luck. Guess what it was? A huge homeworking leaflet with all this bumph about free DVDs, free that, free this, how I can earn thousands in a month, blah-de-blah. Then, RIGHT AT THE END (as you would expect) it said that after the free trial I would have to pay £27 A MONTH for..well, I don't really know what for as it wasn't explained properly to me. There was far too much large, red print and exclamation marks for me to take it seriously and the direct debit form at the end just made me want to scream. No company name, no telephone number so I can ring up and have a rant. Nothing. Just a load of nothingness to make me sign up for..well, probably nothing because my instincts tell me it was a scam.
How dare they! Where on earth have they got my name and address from? I can't ring them up either, how frustrating. Anyway, it's in my recycling bin now in bits, where it belongs.
Do you ever become excited at receiving your post only for your hopes to be dashed as soon as you open it?
Oh, well, at least tomorrow is another day!

I need one of those as my 10 year one has ran out. No point getting one yet though because they are more expensive now and we're not going abroad anyway. Where's this cruise then? My in-laws have been on a few of those...usually in the Med but I would fancy the Caribbean if I ever went on one!

I get this junk mail all the time, but it is slowing down now. I read that if you return it in their pre-paid envelope and write across the letter, "please remove from your mailing list", that are obliged to do so. I have been doing it now for about 6 months or so. Where I used to get around 5-10 of these junk mails a day, now I am down to about 5-6 a week. If you send it back this way, they have to pay postage too. So I think they can really get that they are not only wasting all that printing, but having to pay for it to be returned to them also. Maybe worth a try is you are getting a lot of it. _Derek

Dammit, I've gone and ripped the pre-paid envelope in half so it's unusable...just my luck! If I get any of this stuff again I shall try to remember to write "please remove from mailing list" as you suggested. I've never heard of that tip before so thanks!

hello janeyyyyy!
I will understand you!!
I happen very often!
Especially with the mail. But since I live alonewith paper mail at home.
Every morning I'm always very curious to see what mail I get the same thing with the mail, but not always, there are nice surprises or at least most of the time is not something exciting!
kisses

Hello there Matt90! Welcome to MyLot! Well, that's the first time I've ever had spam sent to me via snail mail and I hope it will be the last. I get the odd casino CD as well and they go straight in the bin..not very often now though because I think they've got the message that I'M NOT INTERESTED!

The email spam I get now automatically goes into a spam folder so I don't really notice it. This is why I was so annoyed at getting some "Snail Mail" spam lol. Not impressed by their tactics at all!

It was so unusual (and annoying) to get spam mail through the post! So used to it coming via email. Anyway, not to worry, it'll all get recycled into more crap lol.

That happened at least once that I can think of. I was expecting a package, and one came, but it was something that R was expecting for work.

Junk mail gets more and more annoying and the senders are getting more and more clever in making it look official, so much in fact I almost through a letter away the other month that actually had a cheque for £300 in from an insurance company as I thought it was junk mail!!!
And it doesn't end with the actual mail my 'virtual' mail - the in box gets filled with the electronic equivalent daily!!
It really is very annoying - and as you say, where on earth do they find us from?

I have had instances whereby I do that checking "yes" and "no" thingy online and I'm sure that "no" means "yes" in some instances because I've had people ring up saying that I recently signed up for such-an-such, then I have to remind them that I haven't...then they hang up!
I only hope I'm not on some mailing list because I don't want any more of this crap coming through my door, especially when I'm waiting for something else that is far more important.
My Junk Email isn't too bad. I block certain senders that aren't automatically blocked at the time. Then Gmail and Yahoo automatically delete the spammers after so many days. Gets full quickly mind you! The Spam Folder that is!
