What was your favorite school competition that is academic related

During my school days I usually participate in spelling competition but later would come out without any prizes. There are also other competitions like quiz, essay writing, story writing, poetry writing so on. But spelling competition is something I had really enjoyed during my school days. At times I also enjoyed dictation, which is also something interesting for me even now too.

The only memorable thing I probably did was the Quiz Bowl. They gave out trophies and medals, and gave checks to the first, second, and third place winners. The entire thing was a scam. They gave you a study guide, and the Quiz Bowl's questions was of a whole difference subject. There were many ties, and the only way someone won was because of a random question that the person knew by heart. I still remember how I left early and our teacher screamed at the organizers. Then we left early. It feels like it was yesterday...Ahhh....good times, good times.
