there's no summer in sight for consumer sentiment, with public views of current economic. few institutions in American survey says that: 55 percent of Americans say their personal finance are in bad shape, 72 percent call it a bad time to spend money and 89 percent say the national economy's is hurting-all very near their averages for the year. put them together and the Consumer Comfort Index stands at-44 on it scale of +1000 to 100, near its 2010 average,-46. It averaged -48 last year, its worst in 24 years of weekly surveys.
