yesterday i had to sleep at my friend's place, since it was too late in the night. though it was almost mid night i never felt sleepy. i was just lying on bed, with some random thoughts coming one after the other. it has happened so many times, that i cant sleep in a place other than where i sleep regularly.
is it the same with you?? what do u do to fall asleep in new places?

Hi,
Unless forced by circumstances I prefer my own bed at home. Though people say that one should try to adapt to the condition, I have hardly succeeded. I do not get sleep easily and you know the pain of lying idle on bed without sleep knoking at the door. It is frustrating at times.
If it is hotel the thing is a bit different but it is worse if I am to spend a night or two at my relatives' or friends' house. Few months back we went to a friend's house and had planned that we would return home. But it was quite late before we did our dinner and we were rather forced to stay back. But we decided to move and I drove my car 150 KM home and when were at home it was past 1 AM.
Hence home sweet home.

even my father insists on adapting to any situation that comes uninvited. but i think this is something beyond my control. or i should consider jogging before sleep, so that tiredness will be lay me off.
as u said, the pain of lying idle is too bad. sometime later we start yawning. but never get to sleep. some random thoughts keep running in mind, and inspite of knowing that they are useless, we are forced to give them a space.
as u concluded, home sweet home is the best

Definitely I can't sleep on the streets. LOL. But if you're talking about sleeping in other rooms, I think I don't have any problem with that. So long as it's comfortable, clean and has a fair cool temperature, then I can doze off easily. LOL. I can even sleep during traveling. :)

Hello shravandone,
I always experience the same difficulty about sleeping in other places. No matter how exhausted I am, I really find it had falling to normal sleep like I do when lying on my own bed at home. When traveling, I see to it that I have a book with me to keep me occupied at times sleep is evasive.
In order to sleep, be at home or anywhere else, my cousin always need her piece of mosquito net material on her feet. She plays her feet with the material to put herself to sleep.

nice that u dont waste time like us. instead you share that time with books. but Im not a guy of books either. back in high school when ever i wasnt sleepy, i used to open history books and that used to pacify me to sleep in no time. but these days i prefer sleeping idle on bed to books.
well your cousin has a great idea too!

I am the type of person who finds it hard to sleep in unfamiliar places and positions. Whenever I visit someone elses place or sleep somewhere else, my body finds it hard to adjust to the environment. It takes a week or two for me to get my sleeping habits back. I am also the type of person who can't sleep on different positions. I can't sleep while travelling, while sitting. Sleeping for me is done lying down. If I am not given the conditions I am used to when sleeping, I often get sleepless nights.

Yeah, as far as I am concerned, I think I usually have the ability to sleep just as I want. For me, I think I am a person who usually like to sleep so much in my daily life. The more sleep , the more energy in my body. With so full energy, I think I can what I want in my daily life.Just wish you can have the ability to sleep as you wish. Have a nice day!

For me to sleep it is difficult. I need a pillow, I need something over me. I need something in my arms. I need silence. I need it to be dark (at night, I CAN nap during the day)
I can sleep on a couch, but it is never a good sleep. I cant sleep sitting up, I can't sleep on the floor, I can't sleep if I am too warm or too cold. I can't sleep if the person in the bed is snowing. I can't sleep with the radio on or the tv on.
When I am sleeping in a enw place the onyl thing I can do is make sure that no one sleeps with the tv or a light on and make sure that I bring a teddy bear to make sure that I have something in my arms.

Unless I am just so tired, I can't really fall asleep anywhere other than my own bed... but there have been times where tiredness has just caught up with me, and I have started to nod off on the sofa, I don't like to do that as everytime I do, I wake up with the most horrible aching neck!

ha ha yes...a days hard work can doze u off even by resting against wall.but again as you said, we will have to wake up with body aching at different parts. daily i see few labourers nap off in bus, while rest of us cant even sit comfortably next to each other. hard work has that power.

Hi, I would be the same unless I hadn't had much sleep in the few nights before. Usually if I do fall asleep, its only for about an hour then I end up waking up again, and I usually give up at about half 5 or 6am and just lie there for a while.
I think it is mostly to do with the fact that I know my family isn't sleeping nearby and so I think that I shouldn't be there or I get worried incase I wake the others up. (As with family, waking each other up isn't as bad because we accidently wake each other up all the time!)

Usually I can not sleep well in a new place , even the bed is so comfortable . But when I feel very tired , I can sleep anywhere , even in a bus . Actually , I always get asleep on my way to work , because I need more time to relax myself . Do any others have the same experience , as me ?

Nope. I can sleep anywhere...:D Sleeping is my favorite hobby. Haha... I don't really have trouble sleeping to new places especially when I'm really tired. But usually, when I plan to stay overnight at my friend's house, we don't sleep - we just talk and talk or watch movie.:D

Nope! Same here, I can't sleep anywhere. I need to be in my own room and own bed for me to sleep well and fall asleep quick. I too having problem sleeping in different places like having my vacation to different town or country. It would take at least 3-4 days for me to get use of sleeping in different place other than my room/bed,even I'm tired I can't easily fall asleep.

I never have problems with sleeping, I can sleep anywhere, with these conditions: to have a pillow and not to be too hot or cold. I think I am a lucky guy compared to many persons who can't sleep just in their beds.
