The last several days, I have been reading about scams and scandals from the previous Arroyo administrations that are again in the news per P-Noy initiative of getting rid of graft and corruption. One particular case is the Fertilizer Scandal that involves a few famous names ranging from secretary of Agriculture, congress representatives, governors as well as several private individuals and government officials. One of the names being charged of illegal use of funds is Marinduque's ( my hometown in the Philippines)former congresswoman and now the newly elected governor. I was really disappointed to read her name involved in this biggest scandal in the Arroyo's Administration.
However, I know of one government official from Marinduque that was honest and has never been involved in bribes etc.. during his term as an employee at the Bureau of Immigration. He died last year. He was a lawyer that graduated from UP. While employed at the Immigration Bureau, he saw his fellow employees, supervisors and the chief of Immigration( his Boss) getting rich, yet he remained living a simple life. Do you know of an honest politician or government employee in the Philippines?

Hi Oojopakoo: I know Juan Flavier. He is my comtemporary in UP way back in the early 1950's in our college days. Do you know of his whereabouts today?
