Melting and dripping sweat, I am typing in an air conditioned room with a fan going full tilt.Day before yesterday I was saying how wonderful here in Garden Grove ca it was just a nice balmy 75. yesterday it was in the nineties and I think its going for the hundred mark today. I went shopping this morning and the heat really hit me. Just wondering how all my mylot friends are faring today temperature wise? I knew it was going to hit hard when it came and it sure did come. but my poor roomie is still cold and now she is in the throes of Alzheimer from what I can see. She had forgot so much but she still knows me. Are you all nice and cool or sweating it too?

Hi Hatley! Well, it isn't too bad here today in Ohio, but I fear the temps will be going sky high shortly, and I'm not looking forward to it. I have no air conditioning and we've already had some 90 degree weather and I was just miserable. You just don't feel like doing anything in that kind of heat, other than sitting in a pool all day, which I don't have either, lol!
Yeh, 70-75 degrees is soooo nice and I bet you enjoyed that all day. Makes for cool evenings too.
Why is your roomie so cold? Is that part of Alzheimer's? How sad.
I guess I don't want to complain too much because before I know it, we'll be having those horrible, cold, icy winter days again and THAT I surely am NOT looking forward to, YUK all the way!! Take care hon and try to keep cool!!

Yes, but the other thing they should check for your room mate is a UTI. When I worked in nursing homes, that was one of the first things that they checked for when residents got confused or acted out a lot. Kashmere's Mycat, can you get to the library or a senior center for the hottest parts of the day. It is so much better than sitting in a hot house.

Aww Hatley, that poor lady, and this all happened in such a short time. I hope they are checking her out to see exactly what the problem is, and I hope they also check what GG was saying about a UTI. Maybe it's not as bad as everyone thinks.
Hi GG, I don't have a car anymore, had to sell it to pay some bills and it needed too much work. The library I can walk too but not on a hot day unfortunately, and any senior centers are way too far. I just sort of sit with my feet in some cold water like I'm sitting by a pool, HAHA! I'm so goofy sometimes, but it does cool me off. Thanks for the advice!

The weather's getting all hay-wired too lately here.. it's cold and cool one day, the next it's all summery hot. And then in the evenings, it would rain cats and dogs. How unpredictable. Better be careful on the road to all.. especially when it rains all of a sudden. I see a rise in the number of people having flu too, because of this weather. Stay cool.. .. I'll try to be too.. but I'm still grateful that there is the experience of coolness and hotness. My mom always say that at least with the hot weather, she can dry her clothes all good.. LOL..

Hi Hatley, thanks for that.. I've been on and off, but I'll never leave this site.. love it here too much to leave..
You are so right..what were those idiots thinking, setting fires and all that.. hopefully there aren't anymore of such goons doing those irresponsible things. No rain in months?? No wonder it's so hot... I really hope rain comes near your area soon enough. Just hang on.. and luckily the whole building has the air-conditioner on. Take care Hatley, and nice avatar you've got there..

hi zed had not seen you in a while glad you are still around. its a bitcooler tonight then too they turned the air conditoner on in the whole building so its getting comfy now. we have had no rain in months which
'worries me as hot dry summers mean real fire danger and here in Southern Ca we have idiots who love to set fires for whatever reason, sick fools I call them, and then people do lose their homes in these fire storms. I hate that.

It is winter here right now so I am hoping for a little more heat. Perhaps we can do a swap!
It does not get too cold here, but the nights and mornings are fairly cool and it takes a while for the house and my office to warm up each day even when it is nice, warm and sunny outside. I do not like having to layer up with the clothing.

Yeah, you are right Alice, I experienced this for the first time in years while recently on Norfolk Island on a bus tour. It was a very strong cool breeze outside, so rugging up was essential, but as it was also a sunny day, the heat coming through the bus windows was too much for the clothing I was wearing!

Iam stuck with her as I do not want to move and have to have my computer reconnected with the cable again with all the cost.,let them move her instead. I am really fed up with her tonight; I have beent over double to help her today and get no thanks at all from her.

it was sort of nice that they all really accepted me too. I am glad

Hi, Hatley. It is very hot where I live at. I came home today from attending my daughter's Orientation for her new school and it was 89 degrees. It was very hot. I was so glad to get back into my apartment. I could not stand the heat! It was just weight too much for me! It is 92 degrees right now. It is sunny with no rain at all. I have been inside since I have gotten back this morning. I don't plan to go out again until tomorrow afternoon. I hope that you stay cool as much as possible even if you have your air conditioner and fan on. I will keep my Central Air on until it gets cooler tonight.

It is hot here as well. The average temp is in the mid to late 90's. I stay inside except for early morning or late night excursions outdoors. I don't do well with the heat and find that the healthy way to go. I am fearful of dehydration if I am outdoors and in any activity. Not sweating it at all.

It isn't a heat wave, Hatley, it is Summer
Down where you are, anything over 75 degrees and people swear they're in the midst of Hades
It was already over the century mark up here around noon and that isn't even the hottest part of our day. As I write this the temp is 104. I expect another four or five degrees by around 4 p.m.
Best you stay inside the rest of the day, kiddo. You might melt out there

We had some sort of water cooler things on our roofs but they really did work. yes I am in here with the air conditioner on and really if I couls just lose that dratted 60 pounds bet I would not feel the heat near as much. yes you are right it is summer and July too.We are spoiled here as we get lots of cooler air coming off the pacific too but when the moisture hits the heat here then it gets muggy.

Hello Hatley!
Sorry, but I can not believe that you have 75 degress temperature maybe in your side It is 75 degress after faranheit not celsius. In my place we have +/- 35 degress after celsius, but If I look at thermometer It show 45 degress after celsius. It is hard to fight with this problem, because It is so hot. I do not go outside. I go outside only when I need mineral water. On Monday I and my family ride to the sea the sand is so hot, but water is fantastic. I often go to shower to cool my body and I drink water with ice. There is rows of people who want to buy ventilator. Take care, Have a nice day!

Hi Hatley,
Yeah, I have saw the news about the wild fire in California. The fire was so scary and many houses were burnt. When the temperature is high, there are possibility that it will catch fire by itself. This is the natural disaster. But if it is set by someone, that fellow should be curse to hell!!!

We have been having a heat wave here for days and days now. I am stubborn and refuse to go and buy an air conditioner even tho my apartment reaches about 10000 degrees...no word of a lie!!! Well, the day before yesterday, my oldest daughter came by to bring me the grandkids for a couple of days. She had an extra air conditioner and asked me if I was really going to refuse to let her husband install it. Ok so it was unbearably hot and I just could not say no. I don't run it a lot. Just enough to take the edge off but I have to admit that it works so so much better than the fans when it is this hot. Stay in the comfort of your cool room as much as possible, Hatley. That heat can be dangerous when it gets this hot. It is in this type of whether that my dad suffered a fatal heart attack. Just be safe.

hi sid you know now that I think of it my husband had a heat
stroke about two weeks before he had the first of three
heart attacks, the last one killed him. So I think now that
inspite of his heavy smoking that day when he got so hot
and nobody helped him til he got home and I started first's
aid on him with advice over the phone from his doctor. he
'was cold to touch and perspiring and really ill. I think
that heat weakened his heart a lot. He had been in the library and the clerk there refused to send for the paramedics, I was just furious as he got on the bus and was so ill its a wonder he made it to our house.
I told him you should have insisted they let you use the phone and call the paramedics yourself.well that's all under the bridge now.
the staff here have the central air conditioner going full tilt so we are pretty comfortable in here today.

Hi Hately, How are you? How is your roommate Kathy? Good to know that she can remember you still.
Here also the hot weather is going on but for the last one week there was rain too. Means we are going on with the Monsoon season but rain is rare and the clouds add the humidity. So the weather became an irritated one. This summer was hotter than yester years and the mercury goes upto 46 degree Celsius. In this place this temperature is very high. Only one day there was heavy rain for one hour and it upside down the city life with water logging and traffic jams. So each climate has its own worst faces too.

Oh shoot, another heat wave is on the way?! We usually get what you do only a few days later.
This last heat wave was rather brutal but I said the heck with the expense and set the A/C to keep me and the dogs comfortable. Summers are tough for me, I hate the heat. Even after nearly 30 years in the Southwest I never acclimated and am so glad to be home in the Midwest with milder temps. Aside from these occasional heat waves it's very pleasant.
I eat cold foods like salad, jello and cottage cheese and keep the temps low inside the house. When I do go out I sit in the shade of my tree which, I swear, cools the breeze off at least 15°! I hope you cool off soon!
