My friend asked for my help because she's trying to come up with a baby name for her daughter due next month. Since I had a hard time coming up with a girl name, but had a boy name down packed, I felt like I should've been the last person she asked. Anywho, she came up with a beautiful first name which I love, Faith. But, now she's having problems finding a corresponding middle name because it has to flow right or it'll sound awkward. She says Faith Millicent... and I think that sounds very old. I don't think there's anything wrong with names like Ashley, Jessica or Tiffany, but those names are so plentiful and not really memorable. I feel like if you are going to pick a baby name, it should be less used. Jonah vs. John. Sterling vs. Steven. Like my daughter's name.. even though it is common.. it is spelled differently. Her name is MiKayla. Since my name has a capital letter in it.. I figured I'd carry on the legacy.

You make a good point. Names like Jessica and Ashley are the names of too many people in this day and age, so faith would be a perfect choice for a name. Although i am not an expert in this subject, i would still like you to have my opinion. :)

Thanks, I thought so too. Do you have any children?? Would you name them an up-to-date name or an original name. I didn't want my daughter to have a ghetto name.. kind of like mine. I didn't want employers to throw her application away just based on her name. I wanted it to be a name that was universal, that you couldn't be able to tell her race at first. Also, I wanted her to be able to grow with her name. There were many things that I took into account before I named my daughter. I had already had a boy name picked out because I was wanting a boy.. being "Kareem Juelz Amari" first & 2 middles. My daughter's name is different spelling of the original "Makayla".

I don't think I'm qualified to choose a name for someone else's baby but I've been tossing names around in my head since reading your post. I think that the middle name should start with a vowel. I keep saying names that start with consonants and, following Faith, they sound very hard or harsh. Names that start with vowels seem softer somehow and follow Faith nicely... for example (and not that I'm suggesting any of these) but I think Faith Alexa flows a lot nice that Faith Rebecca. The "th" sound, in my ears, flows much better into a vowel.

jeez... sorry for the typos in the last sentence... I totally forgot to proofread this post even though I generally always do that! ![](/Content/images/emotes/blush.gif)

I totally agree with you on this! I have never really thought about it before, but now that you brought it up, a vowel starting middle name would go well with any first name that ands with a "th".
And also, Faith Alexa sounds like THE perfect name for a baby girl. :D

I agree with you, too. A middle name with a vowel will flow easier. I will mention Faith Alexa to my friend and see what she thinks about it. She doesn't have but a few more weeks so she really needs to narrow it down to reduce the chance of a last-minute-naming thing.

I like the old fashioned names...maybe b/c I grew up when there were bucketloads of Jessica's, Sarah's and Tiffany's. I like Morgana, Morgan, Johnathan, Julia...names like that. Personally I can't stand when ppl smell a normal name in a crazy way...but that's just me. To each their own.

I can agree to a certain extent... but I'd find it very boring. My daughter's name isn't spelled in a crazy way... it can still be easily pronounced. I am just one of those "out of the ordinary" - "out of the box" type of people..... most people like me are considered leaders and trendsetters not followers. And I expect my daughter to be the same exact way!!
