Hello everybody!
Something really funny happened to me yesterday.
I was walking my dog Binne when a policeman stopped us to pet the dog. He said he is a big fan of Airedale Terriers, and he knew there are not many airedales in our small town. I said there are no other airedales than Binne in our town, but he insisted there is another one in the north part of the town. He said there is a boy who walks that dog. I asked him for details (where and when he saw that boy) and we came to the conclusion that the boy he saw was... me.
I know that I have short hair and I do wear pants, but I have never been mistaken for a boy before.
Did something like this happen to you?

hehe funny to be mistaken for one and the same.
a few times i've been mistaken for a man because of my name. it would seem myles/miles is often associated with males in the US and UK. but that's only thru online communication.
in person, i've never been mistaken for a boy since i usually have my hair long and i'm a bit on the boobsy side.

if you're wearing sweats in black or shades of dark blue or gray, sporting a short hair or wearing a cap... the back view could very well have been like a boy... hehe

hahaha! actually its not on what happened to me, its about on others experience that i saw when i was once riding a LRT train in manila (philippines). There was this guy who has long hair next to me and when we were about to go inside the train, i think he left something i think a card or whatever before he went inside, the guard that was working outside the train was yelling *miss! miss! you dropped something!* and he all turned around and asked us to call the person next to us, then we were wondering what girl is he talking about, the the gourd went in and pat the guy next to me and said *miss you forgot you ID* and the guy turned around and the guard was surprised that its actually a guy. :P

Haha, he wasn't looking very carefully!
Well when I was younger I was very boyish, I think I just idolized my father and so I wore boy's clothes until I was college.
When I was about 10 or 11, my cousin who I haven't seen in a long while couldn't recognize me because all the while he thought I was a boy. When my mom introduced me to them, he was so shocked when he knew it was me.
But I was never mistaken to be a boy even when I was really looking like a girl. That man just didn't take a good look at you that's why.

hard to admit,but yeah,i am!
there was this time i happen to act or move like a boy sometime but those times no one ever called me a boy.cause you can see me wearing clothes for girls only.
but then one time i came to a store,i have a long hair that time and i ponytail it for a while then the vendor suddenly said, good morning sir, then realizing i'm a girl, she repeated her greeting.in my head,i was thinking do i look like a guy this time?well,i think the vendor only was not with herself that's why she just uttered whatever she thinks in front of her.or maybe she was dreaming og a guy turning to her.she is daydreaming i guess!
if you know how you look like, someone wouldn't see you for mistake.it's just how we carry ourselves.for we all know, what we really are...

yeah,ii think you are just haggard that time that someone had mistaken said you are a boy.when someone is having short hair then walking like guy, yeah i think someone would mistaken say you are one...but however it is,you know who you really are,it's just how you move and act.as people have different perceptions on things they see.

Hi,inu1711,yes,It's very common to recognise mistake for gender in our life day and day.I think it is some reasons as below as my view for almost current kid and teenager who like dress up some strange clothes opposite their gender;this kind of peson, for exmple, girls are apt to cut very short hair like a boy, even shorter than genarral boy.the other sides, the boys who usually wear colourful T-shirt,neuter dress up,and have very long hair like a girs.....This exterier representation will make us mistake for a boy and girls.

several years ago when my mother-in-law was reiding at a nursing home, my husband went to visit her. We were in the lobby together talking to her when I excused myself to go the washroom. Upon returning to the lobby my husband was smiling from ear to ear. "What are you smiling about?" I asked. Then he decided to tell me what had transpired in my brief absence.
There were a group old ladies in the lobby at the time, so when I left, one of the ladies turned to my mother-in-law and enquired, "How old is your little boy?" At the time I was a 30 year old woman. I did't know to accept this as a compliment of an insult.

hehe. most people think when they see my name that i'm a boy since i have a boy name. but i've never been mistaken for a boy. my friend told me that he used to be mistaken for a girl all the time. see, he grew out his hair. it was up to his waist, and he really has good hair. it'a shiny and straight even if he doesn't get treatment or use products for it. my girl friends and i always say that he has better hair than us. anyway, he was getting gas for his car then the gasoline boy said, "ma'am" then took it back and said, "ay sir pala", which means that he should have said sir. he said he finally got tired of it so he had his hair cut. now he always gets mistaken for a little boy! he's one of those guys who has boyish features. that's why he grew his hair out, to make himself look more mature.

Oh, another guy who was mistaken for a girl because of the lenght of his hair.
You know, in my country there is a song that says "It doesn't matter how long is your hair, the most important thing is how and what you think".
So, again, it seems that my short hair made the policeman think I'm a boy.

Not really to me but it happened to both of my daughters when they were babies, especially the oldest. She was born completely bald and took FOREVER to grow hair, so she got called a boy constantly. Even with a headband, wearing a pink dress and sitting in a pink car seat you would be amazed how many times I heard "How old is your little boy?"

Not yet but sometimes people would talk as if I am not a girl. Maybe because of my boyish attitude but when it comes to look people won't mistook me as a boy.

Yup i have long hair so some people usually mistake me for a girl. Many people also sometimes see my ponytail and they think that i am actually a girl. My mom couldn't stand it any loner and she herself had cut off my hair. I was devastated as i had been growing hair for 6 months. But it was no use. Although i am still growing again now it would take some time.

i have been mistaken for a boy several times before, not because of how i look but because of my name. most people having the same name as myself are boys so i always bring with me my ID with picture. it was only when i applied for my passport that i found out that my birth certificate indicated that i was male. i had no choice but to go to court to have a correction of entry.

Yeah, when I started secondary school 12yrs old, my mother insisted that I have a curly perm or Jerry curl.
She said my Afro at the time was too tough and unmanagable. On many occasions people said to me "excuse me are you a boy or a girl?"
I hated it and after around 9months I convinced my mother to cut it down.

In that aspect, no. but I have repeatedly been mistaken to be a high school or even grade school student because of my height. I'm already 21 years old but I'm only 4"8". LOL
