Horrible,On earth there exists such a country!
There exists a country in the world with a history of 5000 thousand years, and it is the third largest country(960.0000 square kilometres) with nearly 1.4 billion people. It hosted the 2008 Olympic Games which drew the attention from all over the world. There was a period when it is invaded and enslaved and its poeple were looked down unpon by others.Frequently it is critised of its political system and "its failure to fulfill human rights" and seen as a threat to the developed countries.
Now I guess you have got it.Year ,it is called China-a mysterious country in the eyes of others. Then what do you think of this country and how do you like its people?
Have you ever been to this contry ? Any contact with the people there, then what is your impression. This is a free discusssion,so any comments, negative or positive are both welcomed!

Hi "sutong",
I admire you for what you are saying and it is good to be loyal to your country and your heritidge. Yes, it is even good to check out how other people of the world feel about your country but bear in mind the grass always looks better on the other side of the hill; "UNTIL YOU GET THERE"! That also applies to how people of other countries view and think about your country. Take their opinions, as we Americans say, "with a grain of salt"! You might find there really isn't as much differene between people of the world as the media would have us think.

Welcome to mylot!
I know so little about your country! I would like to know more. It seems that all my life I have only had glimpses of it throught books written by western people.
I couldn´t possibly talk of China as if the country wasn´t developed. It was developed centuries ago, when Marco Polo went to China. I´d say that he came then frm the third world..
But milleniums pass and even though we can still see the Great Wall, what we see is something quite different. Every time I want to buy something, no matter what it is, I see that it has been made by the People´s Republic of China. Can I call that an underdeveloped country? I imagine that there´s poverty in a country with such a big population. But there are many countries (even the ones that are called "developed") that have their poor.
So, the most I can say is that I would like to learn more.
Happy posting!

Hello marguicha, I go eye to eye with you on this issue. With so much to show the world, specially the Great Walls, China is not developing Nation. and yes, where are not the poor? Even in America and the most developed European countries there live poor creatures. And that should not be the yardstick to see the level.
Nice words indeed.

China is a nice country... I used to think of all cute-eyed people and nice nice skin to be chinese until Koreans stole the spotlight in Philippine TV...
I used to watch a lot of Chinese movies when I was a kid, I love the costumes and i do love their skin.
A lot of negative things has been written about China but I guess what really scared me was that which said that Christian missionaries are tortured and killed there... I was horrified because my husband is a missionary.
But I hope that was not true..

Of course,it is not true.If you come to our country, you will learn that it is definetely not a scary country as the media has described.Actually,it is a country in order and it is governed by law.The people here are very friendly.Citizens are awarded freedom of religion , rights to fair trial and other liberties. So,there is no need to worry about your husband. In my hometown, there are many people who are Christians.By the way,my foreign teacher in high school is from Philippine who is an honorable person,I miss her very much......

I am an Afro-American and I have spent some time in China and found it to be a very interesting, mysterious and beautiful country. To me and toward me the Chinese people were very gracious and kind.
I don't know if you MyLotters out there know it or not but alot of the tools, utinsils, weapons (ie. that use gunpowder) were invented by the Chinese thousands of years ago. They even invented a form of "Football" long before the west knew what it was.
Contrary to what The cable news networks would have us think the I found the Chinese people to be just like any other people with the same wants and desires as everyone else. That is to raise their families in peace and to have a good quality of life.
For the most part they like most of the everyday people of the world just want to be left alone to live their lives in "PEACE"!
In my opinion "Governments" and "big greedy business" are the cause of alot of the world's problems don't you think?

I see you're interested in what others around the world think about your country.I'm 100% sure there's no such thing as bad country. All countries are good, but people are not.For me, China is the country of people who work. You know working hard and you achieve everything through it.A good example of persistence, by the way.I like your traditional music and C-Pop,I find it relaxing and very light.Interesting cuisine,I love your philosophical works, many things to see, to learn.Let's finish here with positive points.

Hi shutong,
To be honest, I am not so much familiar with the Chinese life but I know that human right has no high alter in the eye of the Government. Since this is not a democratic process running there the human right is suspended. And China itself a developed Nation but what I disapprove is that at the slightest of an excuse they try to put their head into the neighboring Nations.
No I have never been to Chiana(surely would go once)and love the age old tradition. If not some, people as a whole are friendly. Chinese Foods are very popular in our country.
Hope things would get going for the welfare of common people and all are happy sooner.

Every country has problems because it has its own share of problematic people. There is good and a evil side to almost everything we perceive in the mundane world. I do agree that some places have to suffer more than its share but I don't think one can stereotypically generalize everyone in a country to be horrible. For one, I love Chinese food. Their art form and culture contributes uniquely to the society. Bruce Lee was Chinese! I have some Chinese friends who are really wonderful. And though I haven't visited China yet, it looks like a wonderful place to visit, especially The Great Wall of China. I am glad that China exists.

I think the only problem with china is the leaders. They control the people too much. When they let free enterprise and the stock market in, the economy boomed. If they would allow their people total freedom including human rights, things will get better. They must realize that a billion ideas coming from their people will always be greater than the few selfish ideas from a few leaders. It will change in time for as the chinese people grow in wisdom, they will demand their freedom. No government can stand if their people join together against it. Everyone deserves freedom.

I know that china is one of the fastest growing nations in the world when it comes to technology, developments and even population. The chinese are hardworking and have a great mind for technology. The cheap labour makes the technology to travel world wide.

sorry so say but according to some books that i read Chinese looked upon himself as the civilized people hence the name china ( correct me if i'm wrong ) which mean middle kingdom, and they view all the outsiders as barbarians or stupid people with no civilizations, but i do think not all chinese are like that, its the system that makes all of you brainwashed,i blamed your communist leaders not the innocent chinese people.

Hi,
I admit that it's a country which has a great history and is now going leaps and bounds to become a superpower of the world, but yes Beijing is quiet ruthless and aggressive towards it's intents and is a constant threat to it's neighbors.
