In the process of cleaning out....

It actually went well we were using part of the laundry room and our actual storage room for storage. We had a massive rummage sale to clear out years worth of items. With the exception of a few items, everything else went to Goodwill. My daughter kept two items of clothing, and we gave a television and computer monitor to some friends.

First of all, I have not been on mylot for many months so I have to say congrats on the newest baby you are awaiting. My advice when trying to declutter is to accept that it will look messier until you finish the work. Our basement was like that and after having a spring flood it was easier to get the job done. Unfortunately, we had to throw out a lot! Getting ready for another baby when you already feel cramped is tough but do a little every day to work through the clutter and throw out what is garbage and donate what you do not need. Once you get organized and get started the job will get done. It is amazing how quickly we can build up possessions. It just goes to remind us how blessed we are. Think of people in some European countries who live in small homes and with more people residing in them. They multi-task their rooms where as in this country, we are kind of spoiled. It is helpful that you did save some baby clothes, it will save you money. I did that too when I was having my brood. All I know is that keeping organized by storing things in clearly marked containers and getting rid of things that you no longer need can really help in living in a small space. I can relate to this because I also am in a small house (three bedroom) no family room and 1 bath. We have a family of 5 and only one is a child- she is a teen. We have to keep very organized and use the space we have carefully so clutter doesn't build up but we can still get to storage items. Good luck with your project. I remember you always have a project going but that is good. At least you are never bored, right??

I have spent the last several months cleaning out things....had a rummage sale and donated quite a bit of "stuff"....and it feels good to get rid of it....I don't have a room that has become a storage area...just closets that are stuffed to the gills!
