one minute too hasty or timing is everything

So this morning I had a meeting set up to go over a document. One key person wasn't on and I sent her an IM and didn't get a response. So I decided to wait until 10 after and then reschedule. And just when I told everybody I was rescheduling and people started hanging up, guess who got on. lol So we got everybody back except for one key person who must have called in from home or something. So I had to reschedule anyway. If I had waited like 30 more seconds I would have had my meeting and that would have (hopefully) been it. Darn darn darn darn darn....
Have you had any really annoying close calls lately?

This lady is actually very nice and was very apologetic. Also, she doesn't make a habit of being late to meetings. Today was just a fluke. Now there's another one, makes a point of NOT setting an alarm so that she can be notified that there's a meeting, is always late, sometimes doesn't show up at all. A couple of us are thinking about complaining. Especially since she will miss a meeting and then a week later will come up with a long list of last minute requirements...

I'm not quite sure if the other one is a jerk or just overworked, but how she does things isn't working for me!!!

No, I can't think of any. My life isn't very hectic now. I usually even get to answer the phone before it rings out.
I have had a few close calls which are not annoying, but for which I'm thankful. I am a careful driver. I drive a lot over long distances, but in nearly 60 years of driving, I've never had an accident. However, there have been numerous occasions when I've neared an intersection just as a car has gone speeding across in front of me, ignoring the right of way rule. What if I'd been there a little bit earlier?

I've seen a few like that and always managed to miss them (see them coming). I did see one once where somebody ran a light, the person with the right of way didn't see them coming, went into the intersection and boom. Not good.

That I imagine is very, very annoying to have to deal with. I've had times in the past (but it is the distant past) where I've had meetings at work that were supposed to start at a certain time and ended up starting late. These really had a tendency to get on my nerves because I worked third shift and had to attend the meetings that were scheduled after my shift and thus it would throw my entire day off.

It can definitely mess things up. The hardest part about getting anything done on time at my company isn't doing the actual work, it's finding time that's good for everybody to have the meetings.

That was really close!! I can't think of any close calls like that . . . but what does come to mind is when my friend gave birth. She wanted to give birth to her second one without meds like she did the first one (I guess the first one popped out super quick). But the second one was turned a weird way I guess, and he couldn't come out and the labor pains were just killing her as she waited. So finally she gave in and she got the epidural - but then the baby turned right after and out flew baby boy. She said if she had only waited not even 5 minutes, she wouldn't of had that $1000 epidural bill - ha ha.

I'm surprised they even gave her the epidural. They don't usually do that when you are dilated past a certain point.

I im'd her and she was going to reply, decided she would just get on. But then somebody interrupted her and she was delayed. No, she couldn't call, because it was a conference call meeting and I was on the phone.

Hello dawnald,
Yes, would hate this too. To be so close on getting everyone together. Is there way to make sure this person is not late next time? I mean everyone else was ready correct? That means you wasted your time and other people time and as people keep telling time is money (lol)... I have you have a better time getting everyone together next time.
Thanks and have great day!
Sincerely unique16

She was ready to go to the meeting and I guess somebody walked into her office and interrupted her. She was very apologetic. And she usually is not late to meetings. If it were a constant thing, I would definitely complain.
