Gallbladder and Pancreas how I hate you. You cause so much pain that no one can seem to figure out... Why have you chosen me? What did I ever do to you!?!? Do you have the same thoughts as I do? This pain drives me insane, it takes away my sleep and some of my days. I have had problems with these two since I was 16. I am now 24 and still having some of the same symptoms. When I was 18 I had four pancreas attacks in a year. The doctors decided to take out my gallbladder. So it has been 6 years with no gallbladder and for the last 2 years I have been experiencing pain in the middle of the bottom part of your rib cage. Right where the pain was before. It shots into my mid back, and when I eat/ drink it really hurts. I have had another scope done about a year or so ago but they had only checked out my intestines, not my pancreas. When I tell my doctor he just says eat more fiber. What on earth does fiber have to do with anything. Either way I tried that. That didn't work, still have the pain. The pain comes and goes. Sometimes it hurts for 1-2 days sometimes only for a few hours. I know the next time this starts to hurt I am going to the emergency because I know they will do the right tests and not be so darn lazy about it. Like my doctor. One of the last times I went to the hospital they told me in the future I might need to have my pancreas out and then I would need insulin shots everyday. Right about now, that's pretty fine with me. Do you have a pancreas problem? What type of pain do you have? What are your symptoms? Have you had your gallbladder out? Did that fix your problem? Have you had your pancreas out? Have you had problems since? Now I have been told and have read many places that pancreas problems usually occur in men aged 30-50. Or people who abuse alcohol. I don't drink a drop of alcohol and I am a female! Thanks for your input!!

I would strongly suggest that you read some books by Dr. Neal Barnard. He writes a terrific book on diabetes and how to prevent. It has helped our family tremendously. It is so easy to understand and he is very knowledgeable on the subject of the pancreas. Since the gallbladder is part of digestion, his book may really really help you in this area also.

Herro keelymcilwain I copied the questions so I could remember to answer them. Do you have a pancreas problem? NO What type of pain do you have? NONE What are your symptoms? Have you had your gallbladder out? YES Did that fix your problem? YES Have you had your pancreas out? No, I think we require pancreas for life. I'm not sure they can take the pancreas out. Go to webmd.com and research pancreas. Fiber helps out body to expel waste. We have to add lots of liquid for the fiber to do its job. Prosperous mylotting

Herro keelymcilwain I'm glad I was able to give you an idea. I found out the hard way about fluids. I took a med prescribed by my dr. They said drink lots of water. I ignored the advice. Med did not work. I tried med with water, and it worked. I went from drinking less than one glass to drinking 2 16.9 oz bottles and then some some days. My body liked the water. Good Health and Prosperous mylotting

Maybe when i added fiber into my diet, I didn't have enough fluids. That would be a good possibility for my case because I can drink 1 cup of coffee in the morning, and only 1-2 small glasses of juice or milk during the day. So I can see maybe why the fiber didn't work to well if you do need lots of fluids for it to work the way it should. Maybe I will try that diet again but force myself to drink more fluids. You can have you pancreas out, it just means you would be dependent on insulin shots. I hear it makes for a rough life. Symptoms after that removal would be more like diabetic, and I would have to monitor my blood work, and make sure to stay on top of taking medications. So I will have to look into that type of thing for sure before that ever happens. Hopefully I will be able to try some new diet or maybe a different type of cure/ prevention/ treatment for this problem.

I have tried many things to prevent these problems, like avoiding certain foods/ medications. I have tried herbal medications because I hate chemicals and how people are so dependent one them. I believe prevention is better then a cure because sometimes the cure still isn't the answer.
