Ubuntu is a computer operating system based on linux and is a free and open source software. Many people use it along with window operating systems - dual booting. It's free of course and open source, so people can do everything they want with the operating system. Very useful for programmers.

This operating system is not aimed for real programmers but for home use due to the atractive GUI environnement and ligh resource usage. There are other versions such as Ubuntu Server that are aimed to professional use.

Ubuntu is a rather strange word and refers to humanity in both a communial sense and the sense of humanity to others. I have encountered a few definitions over the past few years, but it is still a difficult term to fully comprehend. I do not think that there is any English equivalent of Ubuntu.

Ubuntu is the essence of being human, it speaks about the fact that you can't exist human being in isolation. It speaks about your interconnectedness. You can't be human all by yourself, and when you have this quality - Ubuntu - you are known for your generosity.
